Some Ford trucks came with a Cummins 5.9. The hp seems a little high for that year. This is interesting. We have seen the middle line Barth on a top line chassis with a top line engine and a bottom line Barth on a bottom line chassis with a middle line engine. . 84 30T PeeThirty-Something, 502 powered

I just happened to be lurking tonight and saw this thread. My SOB is on a Oshkosh chassis and I see a few similarities. It is probably a 190hp Cummins with a AT542 automatic. The shifter indicates it has no park position narrowing it to an Allison. The AT542 (or 545) will not have a lock up converter. The AT1542 with lockup is very rare and would be very special. The MT643 would not be seen in this chassis as it is intended for much heavier loads than a Motorhome. I don't see an actuator for a parking brake, so it might be pedal activated rather than hydraulic. The Park brake is probably on the xmission output shaft. The wheels look like the same 19.5s on my coach. MPG really depends on the rear end ratio. I have a 3:31 and was able to manage 9 mpg with the tall SOB I have. I am getting closer to 11 now with a MT643 and 230hp Cummins. I imagine this coach is pretty noisy going down the road with the oil burner between the front seats. Pretty neat coach and I bet it has great pickup power even with the 190 Cummins (same basic engine as the 230) Merry Christmas! Doug Bywaters Near Skyline Drive Virginia!

Perhaps the extra length came from the same place the extra horsepower came from. . 84 30T PeeThirty-Something, 502 powered

My 28' Breakaway also has a 16K GVW - and even with the engine in the rear, I carry ~5,400 lbs. on the front axle. Thanks Rusty... I am keeping this one updated because it has the most responses - it shows the data tag, Length Creep, HP Inflation & each time it was listed on eBay.
