I checked on Atlanta this morning and it is $7,000 now with 10 admission tickets and full hook ups and for both races. I think these were for the new york road side mechanics, I know I cannot afford it. Seriously Bill For what yours was is not too bad. I paid abot $400 dollars for a small space in atlanta with nothing but a gravel parking lot and lots of dust and noisy generators and just 15 ft wide. The weekend for camping and tickets were $900. sky

Danny ZI think when it comes to racing, NASCAR or any other kind, it all comes down to what you want and what you know. Do your homework, figure out what you need and want and can afford, and DO IT.
Our Dega site is 85 bucks for the weekend, not including tix. We have to walk about 5 minutes to the gate. If it's what you're into it's cheap. If it's not, it's a waste of money, much like a lot of things in life. I'm really thinking about those 1650 sites for the future, but I have to have some things go right between now and then.

Sloop John BI love to watch NASCAR, I want to be on the track. Soooo I vol. on the safety crew and ride around in a hot pickup truck and clean up messes most of the time but get a great view that no one else gets. If something goes wrong I have had to put out fires, cut drivers out of wrecked cars, help a hurt driver, stop a fist fight, and maybe some unthinkable day something worse. I do it not for the very few bucks but because it needs to be done and it helps people. Auto racing is a great sport and I love to see the passion lots of people show about it.

All who wander are not lost.

bill h.
Reading these high prices (and thinking of the rise in entertainment expenses in general) reminds me of Thoreau's "
That man is richest whose pleasures are cheapest."

Thoreau's maxim is very good in and of itself, but it can be extended onward and upward to the Buddhist concept of Nirvana, which is sometimes defined as the absence of desire. Meaning, not only are your pleasures cheap, but you are so happy with what you have that you want nothing more. It is easy to get that way when out in Nature as you describe.

Manuel BI like road racing, at Road Atanta $100. for the weekend gets you at the edge of the track for the Petit LeMans 10 hour race, no hookups, only $45. for the Vintage sports car races, Barber Motorsports Park wanted $850. for the site only at the INDY car race, no hookups and you were way up on a hill outside of the perimiter road in an asphalt parking lot with only a very long distance view of the track.
The new F1/MotoGP/ALMS track being built at Austin TX will have RV parking at the edge of the track on the 3/4 mile long back straight, no idea on cost yet.

Bill N.Y.Great time - having a hard time finding a great shot that is large enough to post here. The images are of poor quality from the net.
Here's the best one I've found so far.
