On my 92 Breakaway the step guit over Easter weekend.I have checked everything and have determined that the control box has to be the problem.(orange box #9513). Kwikee tells me that this has been changed to another # and that I have to change switches too. On my door I find two sets, wonder which one is the door switch top or bottom?

Mine is the bottom. Have you considered going to manual operation? This can be done with a DPDT polarity reversing switch to the motor. . 84 30T PeeThirty-Something, 502 powered

On my '94 28' Breakaway, the top switch is the door, the bottom is for the step lights. Bill H. What is a DPDT switch and how did you wire it in? Did you do away with the ornage 9513 box? Looks like door switch can be either top (Rusty) bottom (Bill) Thanks

I would think Rusty's coach is closer to yours than mine. Here is one example, a toggle switch. Here is a site that takes you through wiring one. In this case, the switch is a rocker, but the terminals on the back are the same. Keep clicking on "next" to the right of the picture. My Barth step is still working, but when I converted the previous coach, I removed the box and ran the power wires to the switch and then ran two wires from the switch to the motor. I actually used a 4pdt switch which incorporated up and down lights operating off latching SCRs or thyristors (or something) and an alarm if the ignition was switched on with the step down, but that is getting into geek territory. . 84 30T PeeThirty-Something, 502 powered

Both switches are magnetic; I isolated mine with a magnet cobbed from an old speaker, and popped it against the two switches to see which ws which... This link is to a switch that is already reversed - The extra wires are not needed on this switch - just hook them up without the jumper wires. Or use this link - it's the same as what Bill H. posted but it's on our site. Just substitute the latching relay for whatever you want to reverse. Heck, you could even talk to the author of this article.

Thanks for the info on the switches everybody, I think that I'm going to go with the new type control because I would probably end up forgeting to close the step and wind up hitting something with it out. Another thing is wonder if I have to change both switches? Thanks again!

You won't need to change both switches, as one is for the step lights. Just finished installing all the new parts for my step. Works good. Thanks for the help! I think that if I had to do it again I'd go with the DPDT switch. A lot cheaper! Now for the next problem. When I use the main 12volt switch inside the door to turn off power it will not turn back on. Sounds like a seloid clicks but no power, keep switching of and on and then it might come on
