You don't need a lot, but two in the bedroom for cross ventilation, a large one on the dining area and a few across from the seating in the living room (generally your couch faces the curb side and the windows would be in the curb side). I think you will grow tired of living in a coffin very quickly, so don't make your decision based on preserving an oddity for Barth fans

TOTALLY agree! We are always in such beautiful places that being without windows would be a serious deprivation. We wouldn't even own a coach without a rear window and a center aisle. We control light, heat and privacy with either bubble foil or Day N Nite shades.

One more reason to have at least one window towards the rear, Fire! Most, if not all, RVs are equipped with a window that is large enough to escape. Those specific windows are equipped with latches that allow egress through the entire window space as it swings up. If you are ever in an accident or water immersion, it could save lives. Perhaps a large opening sunroof could also serve that purpose.

Desmo:

I have a Command Center that belonged to the Maryland State Police and it only has 3 windows (2 small and 1 large, not counting the door windows).

I would save the window decision until I had made a few trips in it, travelling alone I kinda like no windows.

You could have a portable genny. We have a friend who just threw his in the back of his camper & away they went. You would have to think about security since it would be easy to steal. Pit bull, or a large chain or a pit bull attached to a chain. Do the race camping areas allow generator use? I saw a lot of tents close to the rv's
Maybe if you just left the areas where windows usually go open(not blocked) you could just get back to it after you've taken a couple of trips. Fire or water issues would be enough for me to consider at least the one window in the rear.

This should be enough for you to consider that extra emergency window.

We use two 1500 watt space heaters to take the chill off & we use two in the winter to keep the RV pipes from freezing. We do winterize it but if there was some residual water in pipes they could freeze & burst.
We do have a propane furnace & the heat it puts out is amazing. Nothing like gas heat!

Just a quick note on inverters. Pure sine waves have come way down in price. An ac refrigerator will use about 30% less battery power with pure sine wave. You could leave it hooked up all the time if you have a good size charger.

Bit of an update....it's been a while. I have been working on mechanical issues. So far, have replaced ALL of the braking system. And by all, I mean all. Lines, backing plates, rotors, calipers, everything. That got pricey. I have also put on 6 new tires. That wasn't exactly cheap either. Added a transmission cooler, cleaned the radiator, changed various rubber parts, new wires, full tune up. Got the brake lights and turn signals sorted and working, along with the clearance lights. To the best of my knowledge, I'm road legal now.

This week I will be installing a fan-tastic vent to replace the old dinosaur that is there now. Trying to get it ready to go to the Grand-AM race here in Indy at the end of the month. Considering putting in a window ac temporarily, in a location that I am planning on putting a window in this fall or winter. It's been so hot here. Miserable hot.

After driving it around the beltway here for a road test, I think that my suspension is pretty soft and I lean to the passenger side of the coach. Passenger side seems to sit almost 2 inches lower than the drivers side. Maybe some air helpers will fix this? I am also just about done with these 7.5 x 16 wheels/tires. Any thoughts on changing my steer tires and wheels to something more modern? I thought I could use the new steer tires as spares.

Lot more to come. I'm just getting started. I'm just impressed it is running so well. My test drive was in 97deg weather and through 3 construction zones where we were going maybe 30 mph. Not a single hint of building heat, and that was the #1 problem with this coach before. It just ran great.

Just remember, there are wires that run up to the roof and horizontally too.

If you're going to make a cut, do it to the interior first. It's a lot easier to see what you're working with, it's easier to fix than body work, in case you change your mind.

Read this post for some quick thoughts and interior framing pictures with wiring. It's worth the read.

Temporary AC?
consider merely ducting a portable unit to an existing window.
