Anybody planning on going to the Daytona 500 next week? Are you taking your Barth, or just showing up?

Bill NY! My son and I made it to the Gatorade Duel last Thursday at the track. Delta and a rental car got us there. Great day! And no explosions of jet fuel on the track! We got to see Joey Logano lead for a few laps in the Duel. He's the closest thing to a New Englander in the big show I think. He learned to race in Thompson CT. Back home now.... Got back from Daytona this morning at 5am after a stop in Calabash, NC to visit a few friends who moved there. Here I am, with my friend John, on Saturday watching the Nationwide Race. I bumped into Corey Noble who took a few pictures of me standing in front of a nice 40' Barth. He'll have to post the photos as he didn't send them to me yet.

Well, I did send them according to Outlook, but they must have been confiscated in cyberspace. Here are the pics I took. Funny running into Bill and John in that big crowd. It was their NY accents that gave them away. Nice looking Barth there, or maybe it just looks so good with those ugly mugs next to it for comparison Formerly: 1997 Barth Monarch Now: 2000 BlueBird Wanderlodge 43' LXi Millennium Edition DD Series 60 500HP 3 stage Jake, Overbuilt bike lift with R1200GS BMW, followed by 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, “I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list.”

Thanks for the pictures Corey! Had fun and glad you could make it. Sadly the race rained out on Sunday and we had to return to NY, but all was good.

Hey Bill, that's a really nice looking Barth. Looks like it might have been the one M&M use to own. Did you get to meet the current owner by any chance? Nick

That is definitely M&M's old Barth. I know because the guy that bought it from M&M, Joe Gonzales, parked next to me at Sebring last year. It was in very nice shape all around. We'll just cut right to the chase... You'll be stuck with me for a few more years. I am now the current owner of that beautiful coach. Thanks goes out to Corey for helping me out while in Florida and the pre-inspection of this coach. I flew down and drove the Barth back with only 2 problems. Temp rose and I pulled over to look, didn't see anything out of the norm so I drove it further. It appears to be a "semi erratic" gauge. But, I'll need to look into that some more. I made it to Northern Jersey and it shut off when I pulled into a spacious (yeah, right) Jersey Toll Plaza - it fired right off again but it sure made me nervous. Got back home and as Rusty can attest, I don't have the easiest driveway to pull a 40' widebody into. So I parked it at my corner deli, with the proprietors permission, and walked home. Returned the next day and played with the height control rods until it sat level. I backed it up my driveway and down into the back yard. I need to figure out why it shut off on me and I have to look closely at the front steps as it appears not to fully retract. All systems worked well, but at 22 years old, there does need to be a complete going over. Wish me luck gang!!!

Shutting down must just be a Barth thing to scare new owners. Ours did exactly the same thing on it's maiden voyage when we went and picked it up in Arizona to bring it back to Georgia. Driving down I-10 it just shut down. Coasted over to the shoulder of the road and it restarted with no problem. Almost 5 years later and it has never done it again. Nick

Of course, it was my privilege to help out Bill who does so much "paying forward" to us. He got a really great coach, nicest driving Barth I've driven. Bill treated me to a pass to the Daytona 500, but in the end mother nature just laughed at us that had tight schedules. I drove the 6 hours round trip to deliver Bill some new wipers and some very, very, very high end tools that I donated to his cause. I have learned that carrying the right tools means the rig won't break. Congrats to Bill and family on their new family member!! Congratulations Bill, very nice coach. Will be looking forward to seeing it soon. I had the same problem with my step, and found the connector to the step bent, went to local parts store ;and they had part in stock. I put the part on connecting the motor to the mech and it work fine. Take care and hope you enjoy your new coach. We hope the wife will like it. Wishing I could be in mine now. Congrats Bill! Mine shut down once in a great while and then started to get worse. Turns out to be a warn idle stop adjustment, cranked it up a bit and never had another problem.
