I asked a fellow who restores motorhomes what it would take to remove and replace the carpet in my Breakaway. His answer was " If we don't do the drivers area and just do the floors (not side walls in BR or on front) your looking at 50 hours. I said Oh thats nice and left. Am I crazy or did he just not want the Job. I know a flooring installer that did my mothers 1500 sq ft house in 10 hours. Has anyone replaced the carpet in a 30 ft Breakaway? Thanks Wayne

A good installer should be able to do it in less tha a day. I have had it done on a prior MH and I did our bus myself. '92 Barth Breakaway - 30' 5.9 Cummins (6B) 300+ HP 2000 Allison Front entrance

I have carpet and it is on the radar to get done. A week to do it? I don't think so. I have a couple brother in laws that do carpet laying. I figure to take the show to them and pound it out quick. Of course I plan on having all the old torn out and everything ready to go. There are plenty of putsy ins and outs and ups and downs with the walls and humps but I don't spect it will take that long. I did our 32 Regency in a long day with a friend that used to lay carpet, and we are old farts. I took the day before and tore out all the old carpet and removed chairs, etc. to make it easier.

Our old carpet wasn't dirty or stinky, so I just left it in and put the new over it, using narrow-crown staples and my air gun. The floor took a few hours, then I covered the bed risers and doghouse. Maybe 10 to 12 hours total, and I'm not a carpet tech at all. You're not crazy, but this guy sure is. 79 Barth Classic

Your assumption and everyone's opinion, mine included, seem to agree. I did mine with no problems that I can remember.

I replaced the carpet in the front of the coach and the bedroom area. I removed all the furniture and the drivers and copilots seats. Bought a carpet remnant from a local carpet store for less than $50.00. Total time less than two days working alone. Nick

I had my carpet replaced in Illinois last year. It took two guys about 6 hours to strip out, clean and replace the carpet. I had super thick original carpet, great condition but dirty and could not clean. I used med height carpet which is very nice and easier to vacuum. I think it was 20 sq yards, more than I expected and $400 labor. I have 2 pieces left about 4 yards. So if I can keep it until I need it, but most likely I will toss it just before I spill hot bacon grease...or such... Tom Loughney Barthless....
