It Ain't a Barth but It sure took time away from the Barth
As many of you know, Donna and I decided to seriously downsize a few years ago. So we sold the big house and land and decided to rebuild an old house that we owned as a retirement home. Needless to say "it needed a little work".

Here are a few before and after pictures. I should say after a couple of years, many thousand man hours, and a whole lot of dollars.

The front of the house with overgrown shrubbery that hadn't been trimmed in years.

The front now. Note the old asbestos siding is gone and the siding is now cedar shake shingles.

The front porch needed a little help and I don't think those rails would exactly pass building codes.

So a little work was done on the porch.

The back of the house was a total disaster.

After.

The inside of the house was completely gutted. All internal walls, ceilings, floors, wiring, and plumbing were removed and we started over.

The kitchen area.

Donna's new kitchen.

The old Living room

Now.

The old Dining room.

Now.

Even the out building was about to fall in on itself.

Now it is a nice little workshop.

And finally. Where Rusty parks when visiting UBRVRAPE II.

Well maybe now I can get back to the Barth and putting some miles on the road.

Thumbs Up what a beautiful house! Great job. When are you getting your own show on HGTV? Instead of rolling that Prevost bus away we could roll the Barth away Wink
I love the colors inside and out.
Cannot imagine all the hours of hard work you put in this. I know a house in Tenn. that needs some work Cool

WOW! What a great job. One question - what happened to the chimney?

Now that this is done, you will be able to go to the Florida GTG, right?

The Chimney was torn out because it was not a fireplace but attached to a woodburning stove.

That area now.

YEAP, Hillsborough should be back on the schedule. Tooling Along Thumbs Up

Bad enough I spent 4 hours on the road behind Nick enroute to Tybee Island, having to stare at LSU stickers on the toad, now this at my UBRVRAPE II site!

I got to see the Boo-Boo house in various stages; it took an immense amount of effort, including work in the crawl space, relocating walls, etc., to get from "Before" to "After".

Thanks for all the nice comments.

On a side note when we were planning the floor plan for the old house we tried to take future needs into consideration. Remember the house was built in 1945. The house is now as handicap friendly as we could make it. Interior doors are a full 3 feet wide including into the master bath. Hall into the MBR is 4 feet wide. Walk-in shower in the Master bath. Toilets at chair height.
