I'm at it again. Starting bid of a buck and no reserve. 2003 GMC C5500 Utility Service Truck Duramax Diesel & Allison Auto Transmission This is a follow up on my other eBay dollar sales that I've done in the past. Here is a writeup I did after the auction ended for another truck I sold.

Great ad and already good response. Reminds me of the cancerous conditions up there though!! How's the new Barth working out? Still a happy camper? I see the other 40' listed somewhere on here and it seemed they wanted about twice what you paid. Yep - it does have rust on it. Usually around year 7 we repaint them, but I had no intentions of keeping the truck as a service truck so we just let it go. I hope someone wins it that lives far away so I don't have to compete against it. That would suck. In regards to the Regis - still very happy - currently undergoing an interior restoration by me. Will post pics on that later. We'll just concentrate on eBay - this sale - or anything related to selling in this post. I don't want to talk about my Barth in here.

Bill, you continue to impress me with your honesty, integrity, fairness, concern for others. I hope your daughter knows how fortunate she is to have parents like you behind her. (See my rant on the other edgycayshun thread) You rock! OMG, this is my 400th post. I guess I don't have my captive student audience so I take it out on Barthmobile.com Hopefully I still have something worth saying... maybe not! 9708-M0037-37MM-01 "98" Monarch 37 Spartan MM, 6 spd Allison Cummins 8.3 325+ hp

Nice to see. That is the way I have sold the few things I have sold on ebay. If it is worth selling it should find a good value. Always have been happy with what I made. Now I sell other things on Craigs list that I have a set price and want it picked up. Very nice add. I've never sold on Ebay, but the scammers,low-ballers, and nuts from craigslist is getting to be too much. 1978 Barth 17' Cabin Fever 1997 Barth 23' 4 door Command Center

have used ebay hundreds of times with only a few bad experiences. The odds are that you will have a glitch once in a while with anything you do hundreds of times. I have found CL to be well worth the hassle and the resulting phishing. just sold my Kymco Xciting via CL. But, found the new scoot with the Trader.

$9,100 is the winning bid. Someone in Deleware won it that appears to be a welding outfit.

It's official... the 2003 GMC Truck is gone. The new owners came by and picked it up about two hours ago. Another successful eBay sale that started at a dollar and went up higher than I hoped. My initial thought was that this would go for about $7,500 - $8,000. Up until 15 minuted before it ended I was second guessing my decision. But, in the end, it all worked out for the best. The new owners got a truck for $9,100 and I got paid promptly. Stuff like this is not for the "faint of heart". You would need to prepare yourself for a loss and accept the eventual outcome. For myself, it was easy. When I'm done with something - I'm done! There is never any emotional attachment past the point that I decide to sell something - Once you've made up your mind to sell it, you should consider it gone. Because I got more money than I hope for, I did a few extra things to it. New horn button, new front windshield trim gasket, new relay for the electric emergency brake booster. Replaced a cracked fuse box cover, I recharged the a/c and repaired a slight leak in an a/c hose and added 3/4 of a tank of fuel to it. I tried to order up a new door handle for the passenger side, but it would have taken too long to have it delivered before they came to get it. Here is the bid history and the range of locations (zip codes) that the people who bid on it lived. The guy who won it waited until 19 seconds before it ended to bid on it. Look around the Delaware area for the truck - it'll be put into service as a "Welder's Truck"

Congratulations on the successful sale! You deserve the happy outcome. We must be much alike... the last 3 cars I got rid of were all reliable and running but I didn't want them anymore. I gave one to a single mom with two young kids and a deadbeat ex husband. She ran it for 2 more years with minimal expense till she got on her feet. The next one I "sold" 3 years ago for $1000 to a fellow teacher with three kids, told him to pay me when he can (probably when they're through college!) He works 2 jobs to keep the family going. In Dec we put my father-in-law (94 yrs old) in a memory care facility. Sold his car for $500 to an old friend. I was glad to get rid of all of them and they were greatly appreciated by the recipients. I didn't need the cars or their money, they were useless to me. I have lifelong grateful friends instead and I'm way ahead. I'm sure your buyer got his money's worth and is very happy and you can be, too. Sounds like a win-win and it couldn't happen to a nicer guy. 9708-M0037-37MM-01 "98" Monarch 37 Spartan MM, 6 spd Allison Cummins 8.3 325+ hp

Some of you folks know how I feel about ebay. I hate it and still use it once in a while to get something I can't find around here, like an obscure CD that I know I could download if I knew how to do such things, but I have no desire to learn how so I go to ebay and get a CD for 10 bucks or so and all is well. As far as selling something high dollar it appears someone with a very good knowledge of how things work can do quite well, but if you don't know all the rules, too bad, you're screwed and there is nothing you can do about it because you should have known all the rules before you started playing the game. I don't like this sort of game so I stay away from it. 79 Barth Classic

I might have spent an additional $350.00 on the parts & fuel. The a/c not working was a surprise to us. It worked when I decided to sell it 10 days ago (I never listed it with a working a/c) so I charged it up and found that slight leak. Fixed and done. The horn button suffered from a little varnish/surface rust under the contacts and worked most of the times when depressed. But still - it didn't work all the time so it had to go. The fuse box cover had a good crack in it, but because it was under the hood I felt it better to have a proper weatherproof seal. The black front windshield trim piece was cracked and a section was missing from regular aging but it looked like crap after I cleaned the windshield. The brake relay was replaced because it had "a bit of" corrosion around the terminals... but it still was working - why take a chance? Me adding the fuel was because I wanted to make sure the fuel gauge worked and the secondary tank would still transfer over to the primary tank. It checked out so I was happy. I also installed a few compartment door chains and hooks, replaced a defective compartment door lock and gave him a few extra dividers for the trays. Heck, if he took any longer to show up, I might have not wanted to let it go for that amount. Or, maybe keeping the $350 would have been better? Nope - knowing that those items were replaced makes me feel better, and it's what I would have done if I was going to keep the truck. Chances are, I probably would have fixed or replaced most of those items even if I didn't get more than I hoped for. But, he wouldn't have gotten that fuel.
