Should each chassis have their own separate area where they could post items/info and part numbers etc....

Do you think we should have seperate forums?

MCC Forum
Spartan Forum
Oshkosh Forum
Regal Forum
Regency Forum
Barth Monarch Forum
Barth Breakaways Forum

As far as brand-specific chassis issues, yes. For an example, I doubt that a Gillig owner would be interested in John Deere issues. And, in my own case, I can only try to help on Pee Thirty-something or Dodge chassis. I would like to see Gillig and Spartan chassis partisans speak of the advantages of their respective chassis, so I could make the right choice when I buy a Regency.

Dividing it up could be interesting. Would P30 owners and P32 owners want to remain separate or would they share the same area?

I think a General Chassis (or running gear) area would be good, too, where items that apply to all chassis could be shared. Like my brake bleeding nag. Smiler

Heck, how about engine forums, too? One for CAT, one for Cummins, etc.

That's a whole lot of forums...

Would we call this area the running gear category and then start adding stuff for each area? Would we limit it to chassis stuff only? Do we need a gas and diesel forum too?

--- Regency Forums 86-96
--- Monarch Forums 94-98
- Gillig Chassis Forum
- Spartan Air Chassis Forum
- MCC Chassis Forum 198?-198?
--- Regal, Regal SE & Euro Forums 7?-9?
- Oshkosh Chassis Pusher Forum
- Oshkosh Chassis Puller Forum
- P-32 Chassis Forum
--- Breakaway 90-95 Forums
- Spartan Spring Chassis Forum
--- Others Forums
- Sovereign Forum
- International Chassis Forum
- Iveco Forum
- Class C Forum 69-8?
- Travel Trailer Forum 63-69'ish

Am I missing another category or did I cover them all? How would you seperate this? This seems like a tall order. If Someone started a discussion on windows where would they put it? Roof vents? Wiper motors and blades?

I am all for giving the customer what they want, but how would we do this so that the forum home page isn't way too long or a Regency owner wouldn't overlook a topic on a latching relay because it's in the Breakaway forum?

Help me out. Would anyone volunteer to moderate their own forums and link relevant info back to the other forums? Move stuff from a Regency forum over to a Regal forum if it wandered over there?

Look at Danny's attempt for his Florida get together. Would you be interested in having a main "Tech Talk Forum", like we do now, to add too and then linking every topic to the right chassis or body style forum?

As an example. Let's say I was talking about a Regency with an MCC Chassis. The topic would start in the Tech Talk area and then someone would link that discussion to both the MCC and Regency Forums.

Wow, that's a bunch to chew on...

Why isn't what we have working out? Am I missing something here? It's not a complaint, help me see what I am missing.

Some more light reading.

I love many of the recent changes, but they have added complication to negotiating the site. IMHO, to follow this suggestion would create gross overcomplication.

So far, I only agree with the second half of what olroy said... I'm still willing to hear this out. Other people may want this or have thought about this too. I'm sure Doug didn't realize what a tall order this request might be. For all I know, Doug might have a list of every MCC Chassis part numbers and he wants to list them all for us... If he does, the least I can do is make it a sticky.

Someone here might even be willing to start a post that they can update on their chassis. They would search all the site and make up a list for us and link each post to his post. It would be something that they would keep updated.

This is why I want to hear this out, you never know where our newest volunteer may come from. Wink

I have a thick skin. Start another thread on what is more complicated or add it to the "What's new at Barthmobile.com?" and I'll revisit it. I don't want to hijack this thread. I understand that new might make it different at first, but more complicated? Do tell...

This site does not have enough activity to have all those catagories. I check this site almost every day and in most casxes nothing new has been added. I like everything tech in tech.

Much of tech is not chassis. You have air conditioning, awnings, refrigerator, stove, micorwaves etc.. Not very practical to split this stuff up.

The daily volume of posts is not enough to require more forums. I read all the new the posts daily and doesn't take that long. I think we could miss some important data if it was in a sub-forum that we normally wouldn't read because it's not for our chassis for example.

I agree with Raymag - most of the questions concerning equipment are for the ancilliaries to the chassis - and may be installed on chasses from a number of manufacturers.

What got me thinking about this was reading past comments from some MCC/Regency owners for such a forum...
maybe it should/could be left up to any group like the MCC people to come forth and request a separate subgrouping for them to use....
It is agreed that, now, there is no desire for other forums as most owners do not report any "part #s or????" issues etc. Smiler

I believe a lot of the confusion might be solved by educating more readers to the Search [formerly Find] option at the top of the page. 95% of the questions asked could be answered by doing a simple search. So your fridge all of a sudden smells like ammonia? You can go to search, type in Refrigerator, and get a ton of info immediately.
Of course I don't want to slow down the traffic on the site itself, but using the search could help make overcomplicating the site unneccessary. In my example above, we don't need a seperate forum just for fridges, it's already built in in the form of the search option. The same could be done for a particular chassis, model, engine, or accessory. At the very least, you would be much better educated when asking your question if you searched the subject beforehand.
