There were numerous places along my Barth trip to some National Parks, to CA, and back when such a rig would have been miserable -- for me and others.
It is rigs such as this that make the 'dragon', which is US129 from TN to NC, terribly dangerous.
Both long wheelbase vehicles and long overhang vehicle can create deadly obstacles in hairpin turns. We will be going to the dragon with the MINI again in April. hope I do not see the likes of this P.O.S. in the 318 turns/11 miles of the dragon.

If you get a chance, read the sellers description of this, er,...RV. He/she almost makes it sound desirable. It's a good example of how pictures, a good imagination, and a pocketful of facts intermingled with fiction can make an unsuspecting buyer think this is a real gem of a find. This is exactly why forums like Barthmobile are such a public service in bringing some reality to a murky area of understanding.

I have to give the seller a lot of credit for the way the copy is written!! There are no completely BS claims and everything has been worded with qualifiers such as ‘This is the smoothest ride I have ever experienced’. Maybe she has not ridden in anything else!
“Although we would have liked to be an owner of a Privost, we found that the Newmar was within our reach!.” – Classic!!!
“It is the most widely produced engine in the Western hemisphere” OK, I think they might have gone a little too far with that one!

Start of the 2012 Overhang Hall Of Shame.

I like this statement too...."These hydraulic jacks also eliminate the need for a tire jack as you will be able to change any of the tires with this equipment. One more note: these jacks unfold and come down and give you the greatest elevation possible on the market today. The jacks that just go straight down do not give you the elevation needed in extreme conditions. You only see this need when you understand that being level is important. And it is important!"

I guess I should look into "upgrading" my HWH jacks that lift my 50,000lb Wanderlodge to these "upgraded" jacks that don't use that inferior technology of a straight hydraulic piston.

If I had to guess, they had to mess with the hydraulics because the Super Slide probably jams if there is any twist in this noodle of an RV.

Corey, I saw the wheelie bus at DeSoto a couple years ago. Same one I think. It's actually a light tubular frame with a rear mounted engine and a fabbed bus body bolted on. Looks about as sturdy as a Georgie Boy. I think 2 good size guys could lift the front end no problem. Cool show though.

Danny,

That's neat. Was it on a trailer or did they actually run the thing at DeSoto? Can't imagine where there is a long enough strip there.

Ft Desoto SP that is.

Corey, DeSoto Speedway, on SR 64 9 miles east of 75. They have a high banked short track and a drag strip. The bus ran at the Snowbird Nationals, which have been run the same weekend as the Fl.GTG the last 2 years. I think it's kind of a traveling show with a couple top fuelers and a couple funny cars and the Night Of Fire jet vehicles. A good show but not NHRA.

A lot of the Rexhall's have tag axles, don't know why they skimped on this one, and they didn't even angle the overhang up at the rear.

I was always amazed at these Titan/Champion coaches. They were some of the poorest quality coaches built in the 1970's. They were wood framed with a few metal support bows. I saw many of them with angle iron across the top from side to side near the roof airs because the roofs were sagging. I never could figure out how they were able to build some of these large coaches.

Could you imagine the dangers if you were driving down the road and your 350 lb wife decided to go take a nap????

Worse yet....if she tosses and turns during the REM phase....

If she rolled off the bed, it could send you into a bridge abuttement...
