I just bought a 1976 Barth and would like to know how to get the oxidation off it and how to polish it. A friend had this and I waited years to get it. I am the 3rd owner. Also where can I find the Data Tag Number. Thank you GG

The Data tag # usually is located over your left shoulder, but not always apparently. Here's some info regarding polishing that came up by entering "polishing" in the search feature. This is a great feature for future reference, and usually will yield more info than just asking. That doesn't mean you shouldn't ask, because one thing these guys love is answering questions, {me included}, but you'll likely find a bunch of good stuff in the search. http://barthmobile.com/eve/forums?a=search&reqWords=Pol...rum_scope=3631087061 79 Barth Classic

We have a 1976 Bread Box too, I we love it. Our data tag is located just under the driver's window. I saw some aluminum cleaner at a truck store the other day, it looked like some pretty stuff. Much stronger than I was looking for. If you are interested, I could stop by there again and get the brand name for you. Have fun with your Barth. 1976 Barth 21' HAM Call: AC7YY

That's two distinctly different goals, with a process for each..... A safe oxidation removal/general cleaning can be accomplished with an orbital polisher, yellow or green sponge pad and Bon Ami cleanser. Shake cleanser on to wet pad and apply to wet surface. Bon Ami abrasives are self-gauging so they break down at the same rate and eliminate inconsistent finishes. It's not aggressive enough to harm anodizing and leaves a uniform satin finish, made even more uniform with application of any good car wax after surface has dried..... Polishing is a whole different animal, with several different approaches covered in the Barthmobile archives.....
