It was as recently as February I could have been considered free of my affliction.

Then in March I went to The FLA keys to pick up Barth...

A month later I'm heading home with my cool motorhome. (can't wait to get home to get my Barthmobile CD and binder!) I've already become fascinated by the Barth web site. (It's a new bookmark!)

Soon, I'm ordering old manuals, downloading copies and continue tweaking the coach. I sneak away in the summer to work on the wiring, suspension and brakes.

More time on the site, more research, more posts, more archive searches. More projects, more pictures.

Suddenly, I realize it's true. In barely six months, I've become addicted to the whole Barth thing. OMG, even the karma count says I'll be an OFFICIAL Barth junkie with my next post!

Can this be true? Look what this site/you people have done to me! (Come to think of it, do any of you REALLY exist?... oh yeah, Tom and Nancy, we went flying... but the rest of you! Or does Bill NY just mastermind and create this whole Barth site as a virtual matrix thing to lure in unsuspecting Barth owners?) Am I getting paranoid?

Where can I find a support group? (Oh great, that's what this site is and look what it did to me...bunch of enablers...)

I may soon be hopelessly lost. I have considered a second Barth (30 ft DP might be nice...) I better go get some meds and try to stop myself from the next Barth site post. (Maybe I'll just go out and sit by myself in Barth... )

Can anyone help me? What can I do? Is there life after Barth? (even former Barth owners like Corey can't get away!) Any former owners who have escaped the cult?

Hi, my name is Steve and I'm a Barth junkie...

It's actually a simple, one step process:

1. Surrender.

Funny My wife and I had a conversation on exactly this subject a couple days ago. I never seem to go after thing half way and DBarth is no different but my hunting and fishing have been suffering because of it. When I'm not twaeking I'm thinking about tweaks. Retail Managers have little enough time off this time of year. I should check my Karma but I bet I have a few more posts to Junkie!! It will be great to meet you all in Milford.

You don't need help. Just keep at it, for it just keeps getting better.

Nirvana is defined by some Jains as the cessation of all desire.

I have almost reached that point, as my Barth is almost perfect (at least in my eyes). Such a state of bliss.

Well, actually, I guess I desire a full gas tank now and then. At that point, I am one with my Barth, so it is almost a state of bliss.

No, not a 12 STEP program, but a 12 VALVE program, known as 6BTA 5.9. But, be forewarned: It involves frequent injections to the head and passing profuse amounts of smelly gas out your behind. nono

Thank you all for the help(?) I have been to the sacred forest and meditated (medicated?) and I am beginning to try the steps. I will try to remember to hunt and fish and fly airplanes, etc. to temper my compulsion. I know with all your continued support I may someday reach the point of cure...?

Bill NY: I still think you are a dangerous man to run such an addictive site. Glad you are not greedy and unethical or I'd be nervous.. (thanks!)

Bill h: Oh yeah! you gotta lotta nerve talkin' 'bout taming desire! (you know I lust for your 502, it would be so right for my tag axle rig... I'll probably never need another engine, but if I killed the 454 "by accident" who would know? My wife wouldn't REALLY leave me!)

See there we go, the junkie talking...
At least Corey kept out of it with his '67 Corvette...

I'll just go think about boats and airplanes... maybe that will help. Happy holidays to all!

Steve I'll admit that becoming a junkie is contagious but you are still in the early stages. Later stages include symptoms like sitting around and pondering things to fix or modify that DON"T NEED fixing or modifying. hmm

But be patient, you'll get there.

And true to the definition of addiction, you'll spend money you don't have, sure you'll find it somewhere, and when that fails, you'll spend some more. Not really, I just like this thread! Wink

So what everyone is saying is fixing or changing something that doesn't need fixing or changing is a not so uncommon trait for those afflicted with the quest for the perfect Barth. Did I need a front hitch? Did I need to strip out the non-functioning dash air?

So it's a twelve step trip to Nirvana if you have a c
old adult beverage and the money to take all the steps one at a time Tooling Along on the crazy drive of life.

Funny, I thought owning a Barth was like owning a Harley. After owning multiple Yamaha's and a Honda, I really didn't want a Harley but once I sat on my Deuce there was a feeling that went thru me and I had to have it.
I was looking for a motor home and found a Barth for sale. I didn't buy that one, but found this site. I didn't know anything about them but started reading about them. Oh no...here comes that feeling again! Well, you know the end result. We bought the first one and then I decided I wanted a different coach for ease of pulling my trailer. Only prerequisite was it had to be a Barth! We are now on our 2nd Barth. Could there be a 3rd in the future (I would like a coach like Bud's with a side hallway)? Once your hooked, your hooked!
I must admit that because of the purchase of a Barth, my cycle riding and car events has paid a price. Heck, there are cars in my collection that should be out riding around on a nice weekend but have not been out of the building 'cause we are out in the Barth...
