Barth 5th Wheel
I spent about an hour looking on the site for info on a Barth 5th Wheeler.

I have been driving by one for the past 10 years and finally decided to stop and ask the owner if I could take a look. He laughed and said "Sure." Interior is shot, part of the roof is leaking badly. Serial number is
F10-614-22 on a blue Barth data plate to the right of the door.

Are these common? I think the current owner believes the value of the 5th wheel is the scrap value of the aluminum. Any info or help would be appreciated.

PLEASE post a picture. We have NEVER seen a Barth 5th wheel. A picture of the tag would also be great.

The one in your photo appears to be much newer.

Here is what I have:

Wow!...Like discovering a whole new species of something!
Maybe a prototype?...Design-wise, looks like the front overhang was attached to a production trailer....also, the bussle is un-Barth-like....

Hopefully, the former Barth VP guest at Milford GTG will fill in the gaps....

Yeah the "smooth" panels of the bunk portion doesn't match the ribbed sides of the lower trailer portion. Looks like it was someone's custom job (built from an original Barth TT) that unfortunately has been left to rot.

Well, I looked pretty hard at the 5th wheel overhang as it wasn't ribbed. However, I think that looking at the 5th wheel framing and support, along with the windows and Barth logo, that this may have come from the factory. The lower edge of the overhang has been trimmed off by someone in the past. If this was a "bubba" modification, they went to a lot of work to match it up with the aluminum work. I guess they could have used the radius top edge curves from the original trailer as well as the Barth logo and front window...but the roof gussets or rafters in the forward section appear to be aluminum.

This trailer was originally "planted" as a lake shore "cabin" and parts were hard wired for 110v along the bottom of the overhang. I agree that this 5th wheel appears to be grafted on to a regular Barth trailer. Does the serial number indicate anything out of the ordinary or give a clue to the date of manufacture?

First off, thank you for taking these pictures for our site!!! Thumbs Up Do you have any that include the wheels/axles in the shot?

Based on what I can see - it "might be" a factory job. But, then again, the amount of moss and the rate at which it is growing on the "Core Trailer" would suggest a later mod or different type of aluminum.

It's hard to tell for sure. hmm

The tag# indicates 22' long. If it's longer than that I would say it was done afterwards. Barth measured their trailers to include the tongue/hitch and the front trailer a-frame support.

The F10 would seem to indicate a trailer that was built in Nov of 1968 - it might even be titled/registered as a 1969.

Me thinks Bubbafication.

The front windows don't match, the aluminum doesn't match, the lower aluminum panels look to be cut with dull scissors. The corners on the front lower radius aren't even matching the upper Barth piece (which was re-used from the front of the trailer). This isn't Barth quality even for a proto.

In my mind there never was a Barth 5th wheel, only a Bubbarth 5th wheel.

I agree, even the bustle does not look like Barth quality. .......... Confused....Bubba hi-brid....or Bubba mutation

Look below the "5th wheel" overhang, just right of the blue barrel. Looks maybe like the framing from the tongue of the original trailer cut off.

Moss rate on core trailer, tongue frame cutoff, the bustle back setup, the windows, and the clincher...

...the data tag confirms it. BUBBARTH Big Grin

I'd have to agree... this does not appear to be original from Barth.
