Perhaps you mean NEWBURGH, NY.
Did you try Mapquest, Yahoo Maps or Google Maps?
I tried the latter and see almost a straight shot using the following Interstates: 78; 81; 40; 75; 24; 59; 12; 10; 45

1670 miles, 24 hours nonstop

At Knoxville take I-40 west to Memphis (stay at Tom Sawyers Missippi River RV Park for the night), then go west to Texarkana on I-30 to US 59 S and then into Houston. I-10/12 have lots of construction, heavy traffic and narrow lanes. The suggested trip is more scenic, less traffic and you can do things- Elvis, Bar B Que in Memphis; dig diamonds at Murfreesboro Arkansa;, buy Roses in Tyler; clay pottery in Marshall; Foretravel factory in Nacogdoches; Historic Jefferson Texas. The route is all four lanes but not Interstate. Check the Barth map to see how many Barthers are along the way. Handy if you need help or just want a series of GTG,ers along the way.

NY Thruway to I-287 at Suffern
Then I-78 to I-81
To I-40 NE of Knoxville then I-75 at Knoxville
I-29 to I-59 at Chattanooga
I-12 at Slidell to I-10 at Baton Rouge

I've traveled this route as far as Tuscaloosa several times, as well as I-12/I-10 to Lafayette. I-59 through AL could use repaving.

No...me bad!!!

We have found that NEWBURGH, NY. is the easiest point for us to get where we want to go,
avoiding all the tolls and super rush and cities along the coast.

But it is difficult when you guys speak in numbers [like a foreign language] for routesSmiler

Usually rely on TOM TOM who goes from place to place....

Google Maps will give you names of cities, highway numbers, exit numbers, point-to-point time and miles. Various routing sites (and GPS units) give you the option of avoiding tolls, avoiding interstates, avoiding two lanes, ferries, U turns, even avoiding bad neighborhoods.
