Orville Smith, a store manager for Best Buy in Augusta, Georgia, told police he observed a male customer, later identified as Tyrone Jackson of Augusta, on surveillance cameras putting a laptop computer under his jacket When confronted, the man became irate, knocked down an employee, drew a knife and ran for the door. Outside on the sidewalk were four Marines collecting toys for the "Toys for Tots" program. Smith said the Marines stopped the man, but he stabbed one of the Marines, Cpl. Phillip Duggan, in the back; the injury did not appear to be severe. After Police and an ambulance arrived at the scene Cpl. Duggan was transported for treatment. The subject was also transported to the local hospital with two broken arms, a broken ankle, a broken leg, several missing teeth, possible broken ribs, multiple contusions, assorted lacerations, a broken nose and a broken jaw... injuries sustained when he slipped and fell off of the curb after stabbing Cpl. Duggan.

Didn't technically happen that way... here are a few articles to let you know what really happened. Tyrone Jackson is really Tracey Antonio Attaway. He did NOT get a beatdown in such a glorious fashion. A Marine did get stabbed and they did subdue him until the police arrived. http://chronicle.augusta.com/l...rine-recovering-home http://chronicle.augusta.com/n...ne-lauded-heroic-act http://www.wrdw.com/crimeteam1...bbed__110885944.html http://chronicle.augusta.com/n...lack-friday-stabbing "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." -Edmund Burke

This missive was sent by my Dentist on 4July, so I thought there may be some urban legend involved.

I read one version of it where they made it look like a newspaper clipping. Hey, it was on the internet so it must be fact! I thought the reworked version was much more entertaining. The clipping appears real. It appears on a lot of sites, apparently the same article reproduced with different cameras or scanners. Since the Marine who was stabbed seemed not to be affected too much by the wound, I can't imagine that he did not do some damage to the guy. . 84 30T PeeThirty-Something, 502 powered

It never cease to amaze me the length people will go too to embellish a story... The letter E & S in upper and lower case appears to be a different typeset between the caption and the lower story. Why be hyperbolic at all? State the facts as they are and move forward.

I thought they were being a little lazy. Shoulda had a "Verify it here at Snopes" button that took you to a fake Snopes site that verified it.
