So it was Dupytren's contracture & carpal tunnel syndrome together. Never had either one, but once sat between 2 people who were recovering, one from each. I learned enough about both to believe I would never want either. I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel several years ago, but it coincided with the onset of enough age-induced infirmity to make me stop wrenching for fun. When I stopped abusing my wrists, it went away. I guess I lasted just long enough. Bill, we all wish you a speedy recovery, & a quick return of full mobility. Both those conditions are a burden for someone who needs good hands to make his living. FWIW, & apropos nothing serious, the name of this condition made me wonder once more about a profession in which the highest honor is to have a disease named after you.

Gee, I always thought I had a condition, but it turns out I have a desease. Don't worry about me. I've lived with this for well over 12 years and have never found anything I couldn't do. I never have had any pain or loss of strength, I just have a goofy looking hand, and now starting on the other hand, but I'm not going under the knife any time soon. I will watch closely your progress, and hope all goes well and you can get back to wrenching soon. We all are pulling for you to make a speedy and complete recovery. 79 Barth Classic

. Seeing that this went from an FYI post, to mild curiosity, I feel that keeping this updated might do some good. I took my bandage off Friday Night and cut up a sock as a wrist support and dirt barrier. I actually went to work Saturday Morning. Don't worry, nothing too strenuous. Base pain level at 4+... It appears that your well wishes and prayers are working better than I could have hoped for, thank you. I am back to typing with both hands. My pinkie, ring finger and palm are very sore. I have been able to do most things with little actual pain above the base pain. No drugs since the night of the 21st. I've rechecked my medication and found that "Six" (Not 5) out of 40 pills are gone. Either I had one more than I remember, the pharmacist shorted me or someone at my house took one. Seeing that the latter 2 are the least likely scenario, in my mind, I'm going with a miscount on my pain/drug induced memory. If you're so inclined to see a surgical cut and stitch job, and your meal has been digested... Click Here. This is after I cleaned most of the blood from the area and the swelling, for the most part, went down. Not looking too bad right now... Still can't close my palm or completely straighten out my hand. I have about a 85% flexation and a 90% retraction range right now. Keep in mind, its been less than a week.

Now, the question is, how long will you be able to behave yourself...? Anyway, it sounds like recovery is comng along fine! Just be careful not to overdo it. Could take you 2-3 times as long to recover in the long run.

Today, 17 days later, was the first day that I can report 100% flexation and retraction - about 85% strength. Pain scale a mild 2 but only at the 100% range of motion. All other times it's just scab irritation.

Good deal. I bet the therapy of opening the Hershey bars to get the lecithin contributed greatly to the improved range of motion as well.
