It appears that we might be forced to move from this area...

I have until the end of the month to decide on staying here or moving on...

It is not a matter of money. This is not intended to start a dialog about donations. I will keep you all informed about the possible transfer.

We also might stay here - but on a different, older, server. It might take me a few days to configure the site to what we have now. If it happens... Please be patient, I hope to keep our site running full time while we transfer the files over.

3 steps back. I'm happy with the way things are now... Mad

I am assuming that there will be a learning curve involved with an older format or server.

They say tech support will be available at the first of the month to help the few websites that might be forced to move.

I guess it's a capacity thing that snuck up on them. Confused

Stay cartooned for development of this. It might not happen.

Seeing that they sprund this on me yesterday and I just read the email today, I have no way of knowing what they are planning just yet.

The email they sent said some things I don't understand. Confused

At least the first of the month falls on a Tuesday. I can burn up "tech support" for a few days before they sneak out for the weekend. Frowner

Actually, since most stuff is coded in UBB or HTML, there should be little difference from host to host.

That's reassuring to know. I guess if I could do this once, it might not be so bad the second time around. Smiler

I've tried to check around with other hosting companies. But, because of the Easter weekend, I am getting no one to return my emails.

It's looking, more and more, like we might be using another site come the first of the month. I've been reassured that the server we will be placed on was considered the "top of the line" just a few years ago. This is a backup resource server for file storage and will not have all of the bells and whistles this site currently has.

This should be a short term deal... Roll Eyes

Now, back to our regular program.

Ok, it's a done deal, we'll be using a staging server for a few ___________ (fill in the blank).

While the transition goes into effect you'll notice

I will be out on Tuesday as this is opening day of fishing season. We leave at 2am and I need to catch some zzz's before Tuesday.

Hoping for the best... Big Grin

Was it DOS86?

Black, white and grey has got to be better than the black and neon green of DOS86... Eeker

Would anyone like to play "Tank Commander" or "Missile Command"? Big Grin

What do you think of the time stamp on the tab bar? Kind of brings you back 20+ years. Big Grin

April Fools, you can now take off your sunglasses. Big Grin

No, we did not move to an older server, we are not running DOS86 as an operating system and the people at Groupee/Eve never did this to you. I hope you enjoyed this, and I hope, no one wants to take me out back and shoot me. Eeker

I didn't want anyone to ask... "Why didn't you decorate the website for April Fools Day?" How would you decorate a site for April Fools Day? So instead, I decided to play an April Fools Day prank.

Our members are "way too smart" to play a regular prank on. This was two weeks in the making and subtle hints dropped in several posts.

When I was told. "What the heck Bill, no St. Paddy's Day ambiance at Barthmobile.com ??!!" I knew I had to do something special for this day.

On the plus side... I did go fishing, and I had a great time. It's true what they say...

"The worst day of fishing is better than the best day at work." Smiler

Bill NY, you certainly put a lot of work in the "move", but of course we fell like a ton of bricks (you rascal). Certainly glad things are back to normal, and glad you had a good fishing trip. Catch anything?
