I am with a friend, good fun so far. one last try at thr air on, the system leaked last winter. Got it charged and it did the same as before, at idle will blow cold air good, but at 1000 RPM the cold air quits in 2 min or so. The guys with the gauges determined it is the expansion valve/switch. I am in Amarillo and called thermo king, who no longer work on motorhomes.

The guy called his buddy at Amarillo truck repair and the guy agreed to have a look.

He can get the part from thermo king. I did not think about going to a refrig place before.

The good and bad......

Amarillo Truck Repair (used truck service) on I40 exit 74 took a look at the system. After a bit they decided it was a faulty trinary switch. 71R7550 part number $62.60

They replaced the switch ran a few more checks and told me to go take it for a ride as the unit would run good at idle but stop at high RPM. Out and back, everything works. They came to the conclusion because after the unit cut out the compressor simply shutting off the air did not make the unit cool again, but after shutting off the power switch and then restarting the coach the air worked again for a few min. The figured the switch stuck in the closed position, energized and would not release.

I have now driven 150 miles in 95 degree heat and it has continued to work. yea!

This was the 7th visit to a repair shop over the last 5 years and the first to seem to fix it.

The bad was they charged 2 hours at $126/hour $323 total.

I think I have spent over $1000 on this air con. If it does not continue to work it will spend its next life as a boat anchor......

Info update, wound up in Sayer, OK at their city park. Very nice and clean has small golf course next to the Rv park, $10 to play and $12 to camp with elect and water. Dump station just outside will stay here a few days. I think I have already met everybody in town, and they are all nice...

Hey Tom,

Where are you heading to? We're OKIES. YOu ought to stop at POPS, see the Round Barn at ARcadia, Cowboy Hall of Fame, and also the Oklahoma City Memorial in Bricktown. Bricktown's a really nice area.
