In January 1982 Barth bought the FMC Motorhome product line. There was an extensive artice in motorhome magazine that talked about the resurection of the storied FMC line. I have put this entire articel in PDF format. If you would like it then... [edit 12/29/08]...Put your request here and I'll get it to you.[/edit] Bill NY:

Dave, While I understand your reservations on the MCC chassis, the coach was unique to say the least for its day. I chatted with the local diesel shop about the engine and they gave me the oil leak and head gasket issues with the 8.2L. The Allison 4 speed looks attractive and it's a pretty much bomb proof transmission. Overall the article was favorable except for the grousing about the price of the coach. I think the central air has been removed from the coach I'm considering and that's also probably a plus but the roof top units do clutter up the lines of the unit. If they still have it, I'm going to take a look at it later this month when I travel to St Louis for a church conference. Thanks for you help, Bill

Bill, I absolutely agree. I have a cousin that once owned an FMC and he still brags about how it was the sports car of RV's. My wife and I were both laughing about the MCC article where, the reviewer asks, "how could they find $150,000.00 worth of stuff to put in a motorhome?" We ask that same question when we see a $700K Bluebird. ------------------ Shortcuts Always Take Longer

Dave could you send me a copy of the article as well? Thank you. Also Do you or Bill have any photos of the 1979 MCC Barth 33'?

The article states that it was 1982 that Barth bought out the FMC line. AFAIK: The FMC/MCC were made from 1981-1983 There were none made in 1979. I have several MCC/FMC Styled coaches and this article in the 2009 Barth CD. 1981-1983. I will send you the PDF article, look for it in your email that you used to register on our site.

Thanks Bill, Did anyone else make the MCC's in 1979 or was it on only the FMC's that were being made before 1981? Mark.

Definitely not... there were no FMC or MCCs being produced in 1979. 1976 was the last FMC. Here is an interesting article about the FMC Line So it appears that from 77 until 1980-81 MCC resurrected the old FMC Chassis and retooled that to come up with the MCC Barth. These were all 35' coaches Try this link at Motor Coach Restoration. These people are the only one who I know of that is still maintaining that chassis line, MCC or FMC. They should have more info on the FMC aspect and anything before 1981.

Thanks for all the information. Reading the article you sent it appears that the MCC has a fiberglass shell over the Barth Aluminum frame, quite a different motorhome from all the other Barths on the site.
