RV Train
A few years back there were some posts about a Mexico trip involving putting your RV on a train and kicking back for the trip. With the price of fuel making it prohibitive to travel any distance in a Motorhome, I wonder if the time has come for the powers that be to consider some major North South, and East West rail routes for RV's. Anyone done the Mexico thing? Would you ride on a train in your coach?

Bummer, that sounds like a cool opportunity. Although it seems like the ride may be a little bumpy on a railroad flat car with no suspension - would the RV suspension completely make up the difference? I'm kinda surprised Mexico was the side of the border that cited safety violations... generally I don't consider their government to be all that concerned with visitor well-being. Roll Eyes Maybe I'm being unfair.

For a few years now I've been following the travels of a couple full-timing in their Neoplan
Spaceliner converted coach (a monster machine!)

They've got a top-notch blog, with almost daily postings and lots of video clips about their travels - including several clips of them loading and traveling the Copper Canyon trip before they were discontinued. Worth a look, at:

Lee, thanks for your kind words and linking to our blog.

Here's a more direct link to the Copper Canyon videos. They are all together in this post:

OK Louise, now ya got my curiosity up......
What's a Neoplan Spaceliner owner doing, lurking
at the Barthmobile site?....Maybe acquiring a Barth to use as a toad? Big Grin

PS: I really do enjoy your blog...Lot's to learn
for full-timer wannabees!

I, too, enjoy your blog, and welcome to the forums - even though yours isn't a Barth, it shares two wordly characteristics: 1.: It ain't yer typical motorhome, and 2.: Yours and ours will be providing enjoyment long after other coaches (we call 'em "SOBs" - Some Other Brand) have been turned into mulch.

Thanks for the welcome. I noticed that Lee's post was sending some traffic to our site, and came over to see who was talking about us Smiler

I never knew there was a Barth forum before this, and am enjoying poking around here. It reminds me of some of the bus conversion discussion boards.

Rusty, I agree that our rigs will be around a long time, unless I set fire to our bus first. There are days when it seems to give us trouble just out of spite...

I've read you blog several times in the past. I believe Lee has posted your address in the past or has sent it to me in an email.

I've enjoyed reading your blog and would hope that you keep is updated on your travel plans or, if you have a major update on your blog you are welcomed to post or link it over here too.

Just an FYI: You have a FAQ area that states...

Do you have a telephone?

Yes, two of them, in fact... Our phone numbers have remained the same as they were in California, so if you were privy to the number before, call it again. If not, we're certainly not going to divulge the numbers to you NOW.
But, on your contact page, you list them. Confused

Bill,

You're right, that is inconsistent. If I remember correctly, we wrote the FAQ before we added a contact page. It hasn't been a problem to list our cell phone numbers (but thanks for taking the time to mask them.)

Sean will talk to anyone, but I hate talking on the phone, so I rarely answer mine even if old friends call! I retired from many years in a mail order publishing business where the phone was cruel mistress indeed. Now the sound of a ringing phone gives me hives.

We've had zero problems with weirdos calling us, in any case. Okay, a few other RVers have called, but those kinds of weirdos we can deal with.
