I guess this is a goodbye of sorts. We were on the last trip to finish the continuous 48 states in our Barth when we burned down out side of Buffalo, NY. We were driving east on I-90 when we noticed the smoke. I used our fire extinguisher and then one from a trucker who stopped to help. It wasn't enough. We had to step back and watch everything burn. We regrouped and bought a Winnebego in the Buffalo area and moved on. We are sad not to be a part of the Barth community anymore. The new one is nice, but not the same. We were fortunate to know of this sight and meet many of you at the Milford gtg 5 years ago. Thanks to everyone here and good luck.

Oh no, that's terrible to hear! But so glad that you were able to get out of the rig safely. Super bummed about your Barth too. Frowner

If you have digital photos, you can upload them to a site like Photobucket.com and then post the links here that Photobucket will give you for each image.

If by chance you are interested in joining another very friendly (although non-Barth) RV forum, send me a PM and I'll give you the details. I help out over there. Wink

Oh no Charlie and Angi, that's so sad. I'm glad that everyone is okay and hopefully the happy memories of traveling in the Barth will overcome the immediate ones. I've very much enjoyed reading your travel posts in the past.

We live about an hour drive from the I90 at Fredonia... probably driven that stretch of road a couple hundred times going to Buffalo. Did they determine how/where the fire started?

So very glad you were able to re-group and continue on your journey. All the best to you in future travels.

Kirk

That's so heartbreaking looking at your lovely family outside the ruins. At least everyone is safe and it will always live on in your memories.

Sad indeed but I hope that last photo (of the family) was posed...? It almost looks like manufactured sadness, with a real "base" if you know what I mean. I'm glad the teddy bears made it out okay. Smiler

Did you get an insurance settlement quickly to purchase the replacement RV?
