What is the purpose of the little images in the left column of the forums that are sometimes highlighted and sometimes grayed out?

To the best of my knowledge, if they are highlighted their is a new post on them since the last time you opened the topic. If they are gray, nothing new...

If you click on a thread, the image grays out. Barthmobile is different than most forums, in that the icons gray out after a period of time, even if you don't click.

You're correct - the colored images show you New Posts or Responses to a thread.

Older Content Newer Content
These 2 images are found in the main forum area.

Some forums use different icons that are faded and colored. Faded is older - colored is newer.
