I got StaRV II in JAN '06; by the time our 3rd "anniversary" rolls around, we'll have ticked off ~37,000 miles (It had 43,800 on the clock when I bought it). This means that in summer '09, I'll have used the Breakaway more than the prior three owners combined.

This got me wondering how much other Barthers get to enjoy their coaches...

We have had "Ugly Betty" for just over a year. She was in the paint shop for almost 3 months. We put over 2,000 miles on the initial trip home from Arizona to Georgia. Since then about another 3,000.
Mileage doesn't tell the whole story though. We use the coach often to go spend a couple of nights on the local lake. We have Corp of Engineer campgrounds and State Parks that are less than 20 miles from the house. We also belong to a local Good Sam's club that goes on a local outing within 100 miles one weekend a month. Don't burn any fuel and still enjoy the coach. That ain't all bad.

Never having had a working odometer I don't know for sure how many miles we put on her, butour normal year would be something like this.
January- Lake Manatee for crappie fishing 35mi.
March- a new park- last year was Blue springs, this year will probably be Collier Seminole,[been there, but a long time ago]. 110 mi.
Memorial Day- Friends at Okechobee. 80 mi.
Maybe something close during the summer.
October- Talledega 650mi.
Next year only-DC 920mi. Dega on the way back.
Thanksgiving weekend- Oscar Scherer Park 8mi.
December- Hillsborough State Park 70mi.
So maybe 9 trips and close to 2000 miles would be about right for us. Not bad for a coach that we bought for Talledega and Homestead racing only.

Just bought it this summer, drove it back :3000 mi. And you don’t have to drive it to use it: family and friends coming over for the weekend used it and loved it too (it is now located in the orchard); occasional nap while working on it, afternoon tea, …. Planning for next year: going to Rockies and west coast (from Montreal area) (US or Canada: it will depend on Canadian currency at the time) 8000 to 10000 mi

We got or Breakaway in Feb 06 so we also are coming up on the third anniversary of Barth ownership. We have put 40K on so far and probably will put another 5K on by February. So that averages out to 15K per year however a lot of that was put on in the last 2 years.

Next year, depending on the race activity, we are looking at near 30K in just one year. Almost every time I pull out it is at least 1500 miles.

Going to the Oct 2009 DC G-T-G will add about >5K alone. Looking forward to that!!!

We got the Barth in May/07. Total mileage in that time is about 9K. Most of that was the trip to Arizona last Dec. to April.
It will be our home for 3-4 months again this winter. We just can't decide where! Likely either Florda or south Texas. We will be outta here for warmer climes after Christmas.
Can't wait!

You know, I think I might have more posts than miles traveled. Big Grin

I take it to Pocono Raceway twice a year (10 days total). I take it out for 2-3 weekends in the summer with my kids (9 days total). We have gone to JellyStone in Gardner NY, the KOA in Plattekill NY and the Rondout Valley Resort Campground in Accord NY.

This year I went to Wales Ma for the 2nd annual NE Barth Owners GTG (3 days).

This year... 22 days spent in the Barth away from home. Wink

I do admit to hanging out in my Barth on a regular basis. It's sort of like a clubhouse. If Linda can't find me, she'll just go down to the Barth and find me sleeping or tinkering with it.

Still looking to hit the lottery so I can buy M&M's coach and disappear a little more. Cool

I use my Barth as much as possible. I have changed my activity area to the New England and upstate New York area in recent years. The primary reason, I like this area the best. Although I am going to try to get to the 'The 2009 Nations Capital GTG'. I move into my Barth in early spring, and move out as late in the year as possible. This year was mid April and looks like end of November. This summer I was at my home base about three weeks total. Miles traveled is not that much in that I try to stay a week at each destination, and travel less than 300 miles to get there. I live onboard because I find it much easier to stay aboard than move ‘stuff’ back and forth, and also, I really like staying in my coach. I even do contract work from it from time to time.

Deb & I have had our Barth for 6 years. Like Danny we bought her to go the the races. Our home is in North Georgia but I work away from home and have been using the bus as my home away from home for the last 5 years. Presently I am in Florida and before that Augusta Ga. It's better than a hotel room and quite comfortable. It's like full timing.

I take it out every 2-3 weeks for a spin. It's kind of like a Barth Fix.

My next trip will be to the FL.GTG in December the races in April and the GTG in DC. Deb usually fly's here for the long trips but I have made 3-4 trips alone back to Georgia.
I find the more I drive her the better she runs.

Hope to see you at the GTG in Florida.

Ed.

Wifey and I have done about 5K miles on our '87 34T Regal this year. Washington State to Denver, Vincent M/C Rally, then South to New Mexico and Steam Trains, etc.. North to Arizona and RedRock Country, North again to Utah, Zion, Cedar Breaks, etc. and Nevada, Races at Bonneville Salt Flats, some time in Idaho at Craters of the Moon then home, plus all the weekends we get to go to the Pacific Coast and catch Salmon, Halibut, Oysters and Clams.
Retirement sucks.... but somebody has to do it.

We use our Barth to go back and forth to Florida or NH. We are also Disney pass holders, so there are numerous winter trips over to Ft Wilderness.

We are raising our grandson, he is 5 now. He has his prominent spot on the wraparound couch and lives the life of Riley both on and off the road! Everyone gets excited when its time to load up Barth for a trip and the dog and two cats always show great signs of relief that we are not packing them into the Avalanche to traverse north or south.

Although Barths are made to run the roads, having a quality rig means you can use it whether traveling or sitting at home. I sometimes go out to the Barth to make business calls where I know I can get a quiet space. Winter visitors love their own quiet cabana where they can look out the windshield to Weeki Watch Prairie Lake and can walk ten paces to take a dip in the pool.

We bought a house last year to rehab for my parents here in our Florida town and we often parked the Barth in the driveway for the weekend even though we live just 6 miles away. It was fun and convenient when the plumbing was being replaced.

Our Barth is almost like part of the family now.

I have put 5600 miles on my unit in the last 7 months since I bought it. (1400 of which brought her home). Tina has slept in her for 28 nights and I have slept in her for over 40 due to "out of town jobs" to avoid bed bugs and God know what else. I am still not done using her for the season but I can guess I will use her another 800 miles or so this year even if the weather gets cold real fast. What a buy.
