Actually, I'm choking on what to do with such a nice collection. As said by others, I can't plant them in the ground. It's a dilemma akin to inheriting a family heirloom that doesn't fit your decor hmm

Right now, Steve and I are planning for him to visit in Florida where we will discuss what to do with this collection. We will likely market off any valuable ones and I'll plant the few that aren't valuable or display them inside the "Cave". Steve has graciously offered to split proceeds with BM. I'm only interested in a fair disposition and these plates as this quality/rarity wasn't expected. It's still a fun twist though cheers

I did a little desktop research on EBay "completed auctions" and I'm not at all sure what makes a plate worth $5, 30, $200. Lots of high asking prices, but not much to be gained by those that completed successfully. Of course, it costs time and money to put up auctions, so we'll need a good plan forward. In the end, it will be all up to Steve. If nothing else, these plates have promoted a visit from Steve which has long been anticipated. That alone will be a great outcome even if nothing else transpires.

A new twist to the old saying, "Be careful what you ask for!" Smiler

It's still Corey's fault... I hadn't seen/thought about that box of plates in 15 years. Never even looked through it till the other day, after Corey prompted the search. There is no personal attachment for me or the friend who gave them to me, nor any reason to need cash. I just like finding good homes for cool stuff. When I had my 54 Chev I looked for the correct hood ornament for two years. Finally found one and the guy GAVE it to me... said he knew I needed it and he didn't.

It looks like we'll still need more for the patio... maybe the Walmart parking lot thing after all! nono

We'll see what we can do with them...

Bill's been pretty quiet..(or is he heading for the bank?) ROTFLMAO

Rusty,

Got the awesome plate today! Another really cool plate and I'll think of you and the furry friends when I look at it.

Thanks again and donation in your name on its way to Bill.

Just an administrative follow up: if I make a donation in your name, it will show up next time you post something or if someone replies to your post to it seems. We should be up to date with all donations, but let me know if I missed anyone. The plate drive has been a great success cheers

SteveVW did drop off the incredible pile of vintage MICH plates and we are marketing some on EBay (or at least attempting) then we will settle up with donation.
