Mr. Hoyle has his Monarch back on Ebay. 1990 Regency 34' Cummins 6CTA 8.3 240hp Spartan Chassis, 4 speed Allison MT643

Is that Eugarps bidding on it again? It sure is a nice one. I wonder if his reserve is less than $70K this time around.

Yup, I did a throw in just to test the waters. I really prefer the non-widebody 32' over the widebody 34'. I'm sure the size difference is tiny but I'd feel more comfortable. It went to the mid $40k's last time. I get the impression Mr. Hoyle really would prefer to sell this one instead of his Regency. I'll be traveling through the area after the auction closes. If he sells this one, I'm sure the Regency will be off the market. Bill Best, <Bill>

No rivets - they must have used some sort of bonding agent for the aluminum. It must be glued to a substrate. Does anyone know what Barth did with these later models? What other changes did they make in the later years? They also didn't seem prepared to handle/offer slides - everything has them now - even pop-ups.

When I go to ebay and put Barth Regency Motor Home into ebay's Search, it pulls up two auctions for Barth Motor Home brochures but no Barth Motor Homes. I know there is at least one Barth Motor Home on ebay now. Why is ebay's Search feature so poorly designed that it doesn't pull up a $60,000 auction? How do you find the Barth Motorhomes on ebay when the Search feature doesn't seem to work? Rick

Again: Monarchs have rivets; for some reason, esp in pictures, they don't show up as on the corrugated sheet sides. Entire front cap is fiberglass; everything else, including the rear, is aluminum sheet. They also have the same "frame", although they are widebodies. My 38' "1997" - built Oct '96 - is typical, even though it is built to my specs. In '96 the turbocharged/intercooled 300hp cummins gained a chip or something to increase hp to 325. The Spartan underneath is a true pass-through with an ENORMOUS HOLD: 4 doors (2 each side) opening into the same hold. 38 gallon Propane tank -BIG- behind the right front wheel The aluminum panels are smooth instead of corrugated. Wood is about the same as a Regency; my cabinets were referred to as "Regency Style", and cherry was recommended but others available. A/C was offered as central, air coming through a central duct running the length of the coach in the center of the ceiling with compressor/air handler in a compartment OR roofmounted units with heat strips. Generator is on a motorized track and moves forward with bumper assembly for access - diesel or propane offered, with diesel costing a lot more and Barth said the weight was a negative (I agreed). When we ordered ours in '96 Barth recommended against slides, saying they were not proven and over time probably would sag. Interestingly, Foretravel (our other option) had exactly the same policy then. Summary: "later" Barths are the same as "earlier" - made by the same people, same or improved design. Finally: In '96, Barth said cost of any DP coach over 30' was $15,000 per lineal foot, e.g. a 38' was $30,000 more than a 36'. "You are what you drive" - Clint Eastwood

You are using to many words. Type in Barth under Ebay motors and save it. That way any Barth's will show up in your email everytime there's one for sale.

This one is Hoyle's Monarch, which would explain why your search terms didn't pick it up.

This question has probably already been answered, but I’ll ask anyway. Why is the book on this ’95 Monarch (Book is $46-63K – Dave Bowers) less than the book on the ’95 Regency (Sugar, Book is $83K – Dave Bowers)? A 20K difference is a lot of cash difference on an item that will only depreciate. What sets them this far apart? ’84 Barth Regal 25 ‘ w/ “FRED” FRont End Diesel Chevy 6.2 L diesel

Mike, I don't know, I know the Monarch has an LP Generator vs. diesel, I asked a question to the seller if it is a Spartan Mountain Master and it is the same chassis as SUGAR. Man, I just don't know what the dif could be that would be 20K. I have seen some Monarchs with linoleum and non-corian kitchen surfaces, but this one seems to have both of these things. Man If I had $60K and at retirement that Monarch would be mine.

IMHO the diesel generator is a big plus =$5,000. Propane is more expensive, hard to find, and quickly depleted. Also, while traveling in this hot weather down south you need air conditioning all the time. The weight differential is easily overcome by these factors. 1999 Airstream Safari 25' 2007 Toyota Tundra 1987 Yamaha YSR toads

The diesel gensets I have heard in Barths will get you lynched by anyone within earshot. $5000 will buy a really good solar system, but that doesn't solve the air conditioner problem if it is hot and humid at night. . 84 30T PeeThirty-Something, 502 powered
