I've been meaning to leave this blurb, but haven't been online a whole lot until lately. We went to the Bike Rally in Myrtle Beach this year in May. I recommend the KOA campground in Myrtle Beach on S. 5th Ave., it's a very nice place. While there, we had a rain storm one morning, so Kath and I were sitting in the Barth catching up on things when we noticed a man and women sitting in a golf cart in the empty site next to us. After watching them stare at us for a bit, Kath finally opened the door to inquire if something was wrong. She then advised me that nothing was wrong...they wanted to know if we wanted to sell the Barth!!! Now, how many times does someone get asked if they want to sell their motorhome in a campground? I am new at this, but I would guess not very often, if at all. Well, after my head came back to earth I thanked them for their interest and advised them that we had no interest in selling. I guess if I wasn't so happy with our purchase of the Breakaway I could have at least asked what they were willing to offer! Then maybe I could have upgraded to a larger Barth. Ahhh, maybe the next time. Bruce 9303 3855 33BS 1B Bruce & Kathleen 1993 33' Front Entrance Breakaway 230HP Cummins 5.9, Allison 6 speed, Spartan Chassis, Nicely Optioned

Bruce, it happened to me about a year ago. Somebody walked by my Barth a couple times over the week-end. He finally stoppped and asked a few questions about Barth and mentionned how it looked so different than all the other RV on the site. He was really impressed with the quality. He finally asked us if we were willing to sell it. Needless to say that the answer was no. On an other note, last week-end when we were camping, the fellow in the lot across the street came and told me that, back in 1998, he had made an offer to the previous owner to buy it. It didn't work out, but he said that he was really pleased to see that Barth again . His exact words were: " It didn't age a single day since I saw it 10 years ago, it's really amazing!" That made my week-end. Real 1991 Breakaway 30Ft 5.9L Cummins Diesel Spartan Frame 4 Speed Allison Model 542 Front Entrance Firestone Ride-Rite Suspension

Isn't it fun??.....Even us vintage short little gassers get noticed....You heavy-iron guys must really get oogled over !!..... Last weekend we took the four grandkids (all under 4 yrs old - a new level of masochism to a Jellystone park for water fun and Yogi Bear sillyness.... The campsite escort got all excited...he was first owner of an '85 Regal for many years, traded for a Foretravel Unihome (and wished he hadn't)......said mine was first Barth he had seen since he sold his in '95....His unsolicited advice: "Keep the fluids clean and you'll end up giving it to your grandkids someday." That evening, we noticed a couple walking past our site about 3 times....finally came up and asked if my unit was the one pictured on the Classic Winnebago website. I explained it was a Barth - not a Winnie, so I really doubted it. Out of curiosity, I surfed the Classic Winnie site and sure enough, there it was....seems a campsite neighbor from a previous trip had posted it. http://groups.msn.com/ClassicWinnebagos/miscellaneous.m...=4675678372360685546 ...Not a big deal, but then again, how many Winnies are posted at Barthmobile.com?

Great stories guys. Real, I have had the pleasure of viewing your Barth in person last year. Great ride. And Lee, the photo looks like you have an excellent ride. Funny thing about those older Barth's....seems the older they are, the more impressive they are. Anybody else got a story like these? I don't see too many folks staring or inquiring about the sob's at most campgrounds, though maybe I just don't notice. I have checked out a couple of old Wonderlodge's. They are kinda of neat and the ones I saw were in excellent condition. I have seen several Wonderlodge's and either they come over to me, or I go over to them. It seems that our coaches have some type of magnet that makes the owners of these coaches talk to each other. Here is a picture of Lee's coach from the Winnie website. This picture, because of the angle, might even be a better avatar then the one you currently have.

Isn't there an unwritten rule that a single MH photo should show front and the passenger side? I believe it dates back to Matthew Brady and glass plates. . 84 30T PeeThirty-Something, 502 powered

Have you seen Lee's new widebody coach? Lee, you'll need to have the toe-in checked. And another widebody, passengers side shot without severe toe-in.
Here is the image flipped and with the Barth logo flipped again In this picture, after removing some trees and adding in some gravel and a blue tarp. I put an awning on it, a picnic table in front of it and camping supplies around it... No, not really. This is a picture, of Lee's coach, from the "Map the Barths" forum.

"Here is the image flipped and with the Barth logo flipped again"...... ...So,.... the trucking business is a little slow today, huh Bill?.......We're gonna have to find you a hobby.... The top pic probably explains why it tracks straight as an arrow, but I've got a premature tread wear problem....

Barth is a Barth is a Barth. Pulled into a campground a little late. It was just outside of Lexington Ky. Just for a night on the way to North Carolina and as we set up the group we were next to, gathered around the campfire for the night. Said hi and went in for a quick supper as I don't do well if I eat late at this later age. We came out to go for a walk and when we came back stop to say hi to the group. Of course the talk got around to cars, trucks and RVs. They ask what a Barth was and got the 25 cent tour. The group had an assortment of new 5 wheels and trailers. The next morning all the guys were talking about wifes asking why they "did not buy something like that quality". My bride of 42 years hear and smiled all day. All who wander are not lost. I've been wanting to post this for a while and this seems like a good place. Short version; Friends bought a 90 something SOB P-A 28, P30, 454, same as mine and a million others. They paid 17G, blew the engine on the first over the road day trip to Ft. Myers, paid 8 G for a new mill, never once went camping or used it for any overnight use, and sold it for 3500 bucks. After all this they came over and saw the Euro for the first time, and the reaction was "Oh, my, if our coach would have been this nice we never would have parted with it, and we would have used it a lot more. Hey, we have an 81 with a brick interior that was done by who knows who, and we've done some expected stuff, like fridge, carpet, & drapes, but it's still the BARTH that makes it what it is, and what it is is comfortable. Not high class bells and whistles and mirrors, just a good feeling when you walk through the door. Adding on the screen room just made it more of a real home for us, but we don't need it all the time to feel good in our Barth. So when folks stop by and say "nice", we smile and say "thanks", for the complement, and for being lucky enough to have this coach. 79 Barth Classic

This has been a very interesting thread to read and I have enjoyed each of the post on it. Now if I can add my thoughts. We bought "Ugly Betty" last September on Ebay from a dealer in Arizona. Believe me if you all remember the pictures, she fit her name. The good bones were there, but the skin deep beauty was certainly missing. We flew to Arizona to pick up the coach and drive it back to Georgia. The attention she drew started immediately as we started home. At almost every stop along the way of the four day trip, people came up to us and ask about the coach. We heard stories of their parents or a friend or a neighbor who owned a Barth. Some of them knew a lot more about our coach than we did. We had to have the starter replaced in Alabama and the owner of the RV dealer there had been a Barth Dealer. He just kept telling us what a wonderful coach Barth built. Just before we left, a gentleman knocked on the door and ask about the coach. He went on to tell us about the 85 35ft Regency he had traded for a 40ft, 4 slide SOB he had traded for a few years earlier and how he had spent months trying to get out from under his $350,000 mistake so he could find another Barth. We try to use the coach as much as possible and take at least one or two trips monthly to the surrounding State Parks. I can honestly say that we have never been in a park without at least one or more comments from surrounding campers about our coach. "That thing looks like it is built like a tank", "It is so classy or Retro looking", "I can't believe it's that old", "The quality is just so obvious". I tell everyone about this great web sight and that Barth coaches are still available and can be had for a fraction of what they will pay for some SOB that is not even close to the same quality. I have seen post on the sight from a couple we met a few weeks ago at a local State Park. Hope they follow up and get their Barth. How do you sum up the enjoyment and fun of owning a Barth. I'm not sure and I know none of us went out and bought a Barth because of the attention it draws. But on the other hand, we probably don't mind at all the boost to our egos when people ooh and aah over our beloved Barths. Wonder how much attention a whole row of Barths lined up in Tennessee get?
