Way to go, Bill. So, it is neither a pusher nor a 1974. Seems like a great coach for the money (current price).

So, are we saying this is a FRED? With a rather long exhaust pipe? This would be fun to go look at even if you weren't going to buy. Course the sellers wouldn't like that.

Talked to Dick out in Arizona. He traded this in on an Avalanche with a 30' trailer. Little bit of history: The original owner was a Ford dealer. He sent a 1982 Ford F600 chassis with a normally aspirated diesel and 5-speed stick to Barth. Barth built the house to his specs. Among other things it has a 100 gallon fuel tank giving it a 1400 mile range, a 7.5 propane Kohler generator. At 30,000 miles the owner had a 8.2 Turbo put in. Coach now has 101000 miles on it. Yes, they are 22.5 tires. The exhaust from the generator goes into the main exhaust and out the back. Don't know what Dayton front wheels are. Dick said it drove like a truck, rode like a truck and handled like a truck, er maybe tank. But he loved it. Said it was just a little too small for he and his wife. The current owner is selling it for $7900 for his brother 'Dewey' who is ill. Swears it's a '74. Someone ought to go over to Peoria, Az and take a look at this. It's one of a kind. Current owner's number is 928 287 4895. But if you're really interested, Dick is the guy to talk to. His number his number is 480 671 0817. There is a 'Dewey' Barthmobile member but his last post was 2006 and no way of knowing if it's the same person.

Good information, Jim. should be very helpful to somebody who might be interested -- presumably somebody who would not expect a wife to share the driving.

Moved Reply: Mary, the price is $12000 now. That stick shift must be something else. Rusty, what do you think of this combo with the 8.2?

Moved Reply: It's the price of the current owner. Dick traded it in and presumably the current owner bought it from whereever Dick traded it in

I'm not a fan of the 8.2, but the F600 chassis could definitely handle it. IIRC, the Clark trannies were popular in step vans. The few I was familiar with had a reputation for being bulletproof. I don't recall if the Clark had synchros. Moved Reply: This one interested me as well. Called the number listed with the Craigslist posting. Guy by the name of "Billy" didn't know it was a 1984 model, and said he was the brother of Richard. Said that Richard is sick and that he,"Billy" is selling it for his sister-in-law. Said the price was $7900.00. Then I see Jim's posting where he talked with the owner who said it is $12K and that he bought it from "Dick". I called "Billy" back for the sake of clarification and was told that he "didn't know what was going on and he wasn't going to spend anymore time on this...was going to let his sister-in-law sell it herself. He got very angry and abruptly ended the conversation. Now I'm really puzzled. Sounds like one part of the family is acting without the knowledge of the other. My wife and I were really interested in this so much so that I was looking up airfare from Columbus GA to Phoenix.
