RustySuperduperhyper Moon
On 11/14/16, the full moon will appear larger than any time since 1948. While this is rare, it's not going to ne all that spectacular, as it will appear only 7% bigger than its smallest.
The Moon will be at perigee (Closest in its orbit around Earth). It hits perigee avery orbit, but only occasionally does this closest approach coincide with a full Moon.
So will it be spectacular? No. But if it's on your Bucket List, don't miss it.

Bill N.Y.Growing up, it seems to me, that the moon was much bigger and a little bit brighter way back when.
Nowadays it appears that the moon has orbited farther out. I'm sure it's just me.

Maybe you just need glasses.

RustyIt has increased its mean distance from Earth about ¼" since you were a youngster.
Most likely this is a result of the optical illusion that the Moon appears bigger at the horizon than at the zenith.

¼" ? How many Harbor Freight free tape measures did you have to link together to get the measurement Rusty?

From you link above I think we need to measure it again in 2034 and compare again.

Tonight's the night!
