Got home running a little warm. Going up hills, the engine temp reached around 220 and the tranny was 150 or so. I let the couch idle to cool it down before I backed into the driveway. As I pulled the coach forward, the alarm (rapid beeping) sounded but no lights indicated any problems. As I put the coach in reverse, the beeping stopped. Any theories? Your sensor registered an overheat at 220 but it didn't at 219. The idiot light is burnt out or doesn't work for the overheating condition. Possible causes... Fan clutch not working - belt slipping - radiator dirty - a coolant hose that is too high causing an air pocket - it was too hot outside to cool it down properly - etc.

Bill, why did the alarm go on in forward but not reverse? I will check the lights. Thanks, Richard R.P.Muise 1994 Breakaway/Cummins 5.9/Allison transmission/Spartan Chassis | |||
