The better half wants me to remove window screens for cleaning. We have STI windows and screens don't want to just lift out.If anybody has some suggestions on removal great...or even better would be ideas on cleaning them where they are.

If they are like mine you need to remove the plastic track at the top and then you can lift out the window.

Open window, leave screen closed. The top track is a plastic insert. Gently pry the plastic track end down where the screen isn't at. slide screen to where you have just removed the plastic. Now, pry down the plastic in the other spot and remove. These plastic tracks just clip in the upper channel. Now, move screen to the middle and lift up into the track where the 2 inserts used to be. the bottom of the screen frame will now clear the track that is on the bottom.

I tried to remove my screen this way and I, also, do not find anything that snaps in. My screen also rides on the track that seems to also be the inside edge that holds the window in. On the outside edge of that track is an array of screws holding the bottom half of this track in place against the inside wall and then the same for the top half. I can't take that track off unless I take the window valances off first.
I must be doing something wrong mechanic hmm nono

Ours are made by an outfit called Hehr. No insert to remove and no way to get the screen out that I can see.
To clean the inside part of the window that is behind the screen I use a flat, thin 12" ruler and a piece of soft cloth with a squirt of windex on it. Best I can do.

I remove the screens on my Hehr windows by prying up in the center with a flexible Hyde putty knife. The stiffer Hyde knife is too thick to allow the screen to slip out, and many other brands are too thick or will bend.

I just went out to take a picture of my drivers window screen. I could not do it. Seems as though I still have the insides to the under sink area on the drivers seat and the couch on top of the drivers seat and dash, because I'm putting in the new 1522 furnace. Anyway on my Hehr windows there is a plastic guide that I remove and then use the extra space to raise the screen to clear the bottom of the guide and remove. I drive with the screen out so I can hang my arm out and use my fingers for indicating what number route I think the driver that just cut me off should take Eeker

If your windows are like mine, you should be able to do this in under a minute... Superman

If you do wind up installing new upper plastic tracks they go in this way.
