Has anyone tried the Quick Connect fittings for our plastic plumbing lines (sinks, water heater etc.)? I need to install new filters and the compression type plastic connectors seem to weep with the vibration of driving. The marine industry is using John Guest brand. Tom, Give me another week or two and I'll tell you how good the quick connects are after I test them. At present I am replacing all the lines under the bathroom basin and in the side compartment where the pump is. I am using the pex lines and the quick connect fittings. It was suggest to me to always use the little inserts inside of the pex line to give it extra strenght and to prevent leakage, however not all the connects come with them so you have to order them extra. I too had many of the orginal band fittings seeping out water and two good leaks under the basin. Hope this helps, Jim 1985 Barth Regency

I used one of those quick connect valves on the line with that auto-fill valve on it. The auto-fill was leaking into the tank and it made the pump cycle even 30 seconds or so. Just cut an inch out of the line and snapped it in. It hasn't leaked a drop....yet. Regal 25 built in 1989 1985 P-30 chassis 454 TH400

I installed a new 5 gallon electric hot water heater 3 years ago and used this style - no leaks to report.

Are you talking about Gator Bites [Lowes] Shark Bites [Homey]? I have never heard of a failure in this type connection, but this is the first I've known about using them in RV apps. The Gator Bites come with the insert Jim is talking about, and come in permanent and removable models. The only down side to them is they are pricey, about 5 to 8 bucks per. 79 Barth Classic
