At the rear of my Barth I have 2 tailights, and on the back side I have 1 red lens light on each side. The tailights are set up with 3 panels each: A 2 element 1157 bulb on each of the outsides and an 1156 backup bulb in the middle. And the side marker light has a single push-in bulb behind a red lens. 1) With the headlights on what lights should be illuminated? 2) with the headlights on and the brakes depressed what lights should be on? 3) with just the brakes depressed what lights should be on? 4) with the brakes depressed and headlights on what lights should flash with the turn signal? I ask all of this because I failed inspection but the inspector only said "there's a lot wrong with your brake lights" and then entered the code for 'failed brake lights' into the inspection computer. I have pulled each bulb, cleaned the sockets, and put grease on them. All of the bulbs are good, because I can get them to illuminate with some combination of switches... The side markers go out when the headlights are on and brakes are depressed.. | |||

I think (bet I'm right ) you are referring to the rear outside side markers coming on when the brakes are depressed. If you turn on the headlights these lights light up and then go out when you depress the brakes. That is how most of our Barth's are wired and this is not a defect. If you wish it to opperate in a different configuration then I can tell you how to wire it up so it doesn't do that. Shoot me a PM with your number and I'll talk to you.
