It just occurred to me that the leveling sensor for my jacks was on the floor, under the drawer, below my fridge, but it wasn't round, it wasn't brass, & it didn't buzz. Chase down any wires that emanate from it & you may solve your mystery.

On mine it's tin & 3" in diamiter & doesn't buzz and it's the gas detector.
