Something I haven't read about are the window sheild wiper motors. Mine on the right side seems to want to work when it feels like it. Just wondering if anybody would know who made them and what they fit.

Air or electric wiper motors? If it's air I did a small tech piece on adjustment. It can be found here and even though it doesn't talk about your problem it does give adjustment info. If you go up on that thread link it gives some other info on electric motors. Bill N.Y.

I think all the Breakaways had electrics, so Creepy's problem is probably electricjuicity-related. I found mine to be a bad crimp on the connector located on the leads from the motor. I also have a bad connecting link from the motor to the wiper axle which allows the wiper to move to far at the ends of the stroke. I have located a replacement but haven't ordered the part yet. I also notice that Barths seem to have a random "rest position" of the wipers, some are at rest in the middle (both sides) some are positioned to the left or right. Some have left and right wiper arms and some have left only for both sides or right only for both sides. I prefer to have both wipers at rest in the middle of the window and reset one of mine so both rest there now. They are electric. I think Rusty might be right because I reached in and moved a wire on the back of the motor and it ran another round and quit. I would like to know a source for a motor even if just for the future. They park straight up. Also another question I'm ashamed to ask. How do you get the wheel covers off ? I would have thought after driving and repairing trucks for 30 odd years I would be able to handle such a task! It looks as thoughacouple of the nut covers hold it on but I cant get the nut covers to move.

FWIW, My wipers are individually controlled, & park wherever I shut 'em off. Looks like the Barth gnomes liked to do everything different just for fun. If your wheel covers are stainless steel Wheelmasters, look for some screw heads on the surface of the covers. I haven't removed one for quite awhile, but I seem to recall them being held on by clamps tightened and loosened by screws.

They sound like Dicor. The removable nut covers have 2 opposing circular dimples. There's a set of pliers (or clamp) that's designed to grip the nut covers. They can be tedious to get off. The wheel covers themselves are held on by two jam nuts. "I would like to know a source for a motor even if just for the future." My unit is light-years removed from a Breakaway, but all my wiper parts were readily available in the step van section of: www.millsupply.com

Rusty that is the way they came off. This morning before looking here I decided that I would try a socket on them. Forgot the size right now but think maybe 1 3/4 or 2'and a 3/4 drive rachet and then I knowed it was a stupid question (maybe a senior relapse of brain) Thanks. Guess I'll take the wiper motor out to look at it and see if I find a name or number.Nobody has to look out that window anyway!
