HELP!!! About a year, I had a friend who's a decent mechanic replace my tach and fuel gauges with new identical units. Somehow, he got a wire back on wrong and I'm getting odd things like dash lights on all the time, the turn indicator light stays on all the time...I'm pretty sure that when he had the wires off, one of them got put on the wrong lug at the back...anyone have maybe a picture of the back of the center cluster (speedo, tach, fuel gauge etc) showing where all the wires go?

Any help would be appreciated. Also, the new identical gauges came from a boat supplier and are just like the OE units.

Thanks! K&E

Chances are very good that your ground wire fell off. When power is looking for ground, it seems to find them in the turn signal indicator. mechanic

Just hook up a test light to a good known ground that is not in the dash and touch another ground around your tach or speedometer - if the test light, lights up, run a new ground wire.

Make sure you perform this test when the problems are present.

Here is another post that may steer you in the right direction.

What chassis? There seems to have been a few variants of gauges used in that era.
best regards,
Matt
