was there a partnership between them? IS a Newell actually a Barth? What's the story??

Mike,
Two completely separate companies, both dealing in higher end RVs and dating back to early years. Newell is still in business today. There were never any partnerships, but the nature of custom built coaches means they were similar compared to the lesser brands.

A big difference with Newells is they built their own frames from the ground up. They are more like a bus than the Barths are as Barth always used a conventional chassis built by a third party.

Newells today sell in the multi million dollar range and are a popular choice with entertainers, NASCAR drivers and wealthy televangelists.

Newell and the companies that upfit Prevosts are the last guys standing in the high end market.

While at the Milford GTG I was talking to a relitive of Bob Barth that her dad, last name of Nuell. (note spelling) was building the slide in campers. Not sure but Bill may even have one of the adds. She said they changed the name to Barth after a few years. Our Regal that was built in 1986 order form states 1985 Green stripe scheme (Newell Style). The sales book show the 86's with sweeping curved stripes.Other 86's that i have seen and photos have the curved stripes. Ours are stait and parallel.
