Hi,

I have a DIY motorhome I built on Ford E-350 chassis. Here it is when I got it and it was still a vanin 2009:

And here right after RV conversion in 2010:

After that I have extended wheelbase from 138" to 176" in 2011:

And now I made room for extra bed do 2012:

Next fact is that I live in Finland. And here laws and regulations for motor vehicles are very strict and every modification needs a lot of paper work and proving that this modification is ok and improves road safety. Now after introduction of me and my project my actual question:

I would like to install a tag axle to my E-350. Neway TA3-CA-865 seems good choice because:

1. These have been used with E-350 chassis by ie. Holiday rambler.

2. Brakes are same than on E-350 (same brake shoes fit).

What I need is:

1. Extensive install manual of TA3-CA-865 axle to E-350. That lists all modifications needed for vehicle(brakes etc.)
2. Some kind of paper that says this axle is made to fit E-350 and same paper should say how much capacity this axle adds for E-350 chassis.

Does someone believe I might find these somewhere? Point me to some special vehicle builder that made custom vehicles between 1975-1991 and used neway axles?

I can send a .pdf file of the manual to your E mail address.

The manual has weight capacity figures. The weight borne by the tag axle is a function of the air bag pressure.

Terkaa, you sir are a magician, your DIY project looks as nice as any "professional" work that I have seen.

Keep us posted with pictures so we can keep track of this motorhome as it continues.

And welcome to our site.

Congratulations on your accomplishments, Tero.
In 2010, you were a candidate for our OVERHANG HALL OF SHAME. But, now it does not appear as though you need a tag axle. On the other hand, you do not indicate how high your dry weight has become.

What a shame you eliminated the flames Mischief

Hi,

Thank you all for kind words Smiler I had to quit drinking and smoking few years ago due to health reasons. That left me with a lot of spare time and money. So I spend both of those with this "thing" and my kids. I have donwloaded Neway manual from this site. Problem is that this manual does not mention E-350 and/or Ford anywhere. There should be mention that this fits/is designed also for E-350. I went this manual through and it seems to miss few pages missing pages are: 1, 11, 12 and Page 16 installation drawing is missing half. Is there a possibility to find these ?

And David you are on right track about weight. Loaded weight is about maximum. And I would like to add few feet more lenght some day Big Grin And improved looks and handling would not hurt me either.

And since I am splitting hairs here. This manual is service and maintenance not install... Install manual would not hurt me at all.
