On one of the bus boards that i go to, there is a guy looking for info on allison trannies that would fit into a 15,000 lb. Flxible bus with a Ford 360 FE engine. Wants to go non electric. Told him that you guys might be able to help him out, don't know if he will post or just browse the archives.

If you're talking about me, I didn't even know what a 360 FE engine was until I just Googled it now. When it comes to gas I'm more a GM fan. The bell housing is what type? The transmission mounts how? Is it off the engine and the engine motor mounts suspends the transmission or does the transmission sidemounts play an integral part in this? I just don't know what to tell him - Sorry man

I just did a Google Image Search on the "Flxible bus" and it appears, based on the front and rear views of these busses, that they are pusher engines. Now there's more questions. Is the engine left or right hand rotation? Is the rear flipped over to allow normal rotation while making it a pusher? Even if you did answer these questions I just wouldn't know what to tell him without a WAG. And, I don't do WAG's unless it's my own equipment or I'm working on it.

Like Bill says, to many unknowns. First, which FLX? Transit or Highway? Many of their transits used V-drives and those used left hand engines. The highway buses used right hand inline engines. What transmission (probably manual 4 speed) came in it? How do you connect an Allison to a ford block? That is for the hot rod crowd. But on second thought you may get some answers from the Ford truck folks as Ford trucks used Allisons. '92 Barth Breakaway - 30' 5.9 Cummins (6B) 300+ HP 2000 Allison Front entrance
