We are leaving for .10day trip air started hissing out of the rear of the coach.when we stopped it was night.the ride kept getting worse as the pressurevwent down but not far just enough to set off my buzzer and warning lites .it got very rough. Air only went done to 50 lbs. IS IT EASER TONGET AT THE LINE FROM TOP OR FROM UNDEERNEATH? Lennt lenny and judy 32', Regency, Cummins 8.3L, Spartan Chassis, 1992 Tag# 9112 0158 32RS 1B

A couple of things Lenny. Your air psi indicator light/buzzer should come on around 65-70 psi. The dash valve should pop out around 50-60 psi. Your emergency brakes start to drag at around 50 psi. The low psi check valve for the airbags stop working at around 60 psi. So, you're driving around with very low air psi with the airbags deflated that causes the driveline to change angle and usually beats the crap out of the u-joints and the transmission seal/bearing. It can also destroy a rear end too. I'm assuming that you're talking about the air compressor discharge line? Steel braided or copper? If it's plastic or rubber, then it's not a compressor discharge line. Chances are you'll be doing it on the top, side and the bottom. If it's copper I would change it over to a piece of steel braided hose.

Are you sure it's a line Lenny. Could be an airbag with a hole. Either way, you should not consider getting under that coach to play with a defective air line or bag unless you are positive you have it properly blocked. It's worth paying a pro to fix it I think. You bring up another point - driving with low air psi could destroy an airbag too.

I have had 2 air-loss situations in the engine compartment. 1. Air compressor gasket had a pinhole leak. 2. Steel braided compressor line touched by a hot battery cable [yes, I've learned my lesson on that one] and burned a hole right thru the steel braid and rubber below. Had the air line made-up with the same fittings at a place that makes hoses and lines. The compressor was repaired by the diesel shop. ***Air line was a critical event! Would not drive the coach under those circumstances. ***Compressor gasket leak was slow and much less critical. However, as advised by Bill NY, compressed air will work-away at the metal and is important to get repaired ASAP, as to not end-up with a groove in the gasket surfaces. ~Mac~ 1990 31 Foot Regency Spartan Chassis Cummins 6CTA8.3 Alison MT643, 4-speed 8905-0123-31RDS-A2

Lenny - did you find the problem? It could be the air dryer too (discharge o ring hung up). 1999 Bluebird Custom 33' 8.3 Cummins diesel pusher Former owner 1989 Barth Regal 25'

Is there a way to cure an "o-ring hung up"??? Sometimes, it seems my purge cycle is a little longer than normal and have been wondering if there is a problem with the air dryer... ~Mac~ 1990 31 Foot Regency Spartan Chassis Cummins 6CTA8.3 Alison MT643, 4-speed 8905-0123-31RDS-A2

Mac, Lots of people swear by injecting a small amount of Marvel Mystery Oil in the air system. There are several methods (through the schraeder valve, into the compressor intake, into wet tank). Something about MMO allows it to get the vapor downstream (Rusty can confirm the reality). Maybe just urban legend that makes people feel better about doing something Formerly: 1997 Barth Monarch Now: 2000 BlueBird Wanderlodge 43' LXi Millennium Edition DD Series 60 500HP 3 stage Jake, Overbuilt bike lift with R1200GS BMW, followed by 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, “I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list.”

Air dryers are controlled by an air gov. The air building issue could be a weak gov bypassing a little air causing the unloader to "Hang A Little" before purging.
