I have a pair of Duo Therm Penguin AC units on my roof. The rear Bedroom one started leaking in all this heavy rain in the northeast. I took the inner cover off expecting to find it was an issue in the neoprene rubber seal, but found instead that water had pooled (a lot of it) above the roof gasket in the pan and spilled over.

Anyone know what can leak above the gasket? I did notice a few cracks near the screw mounts for the outside cover, but that seems an unlikely way for water to enter into the interior.

Could it be condensate? I don't recall where the drain holes are, but they could be plugged.

...where, exactly, are the drain holes supposed to drain to???

On to the roof. I've heard of some people who actually put a hose in the drain hole and run it to a gutter and then off the Barth.

Yeah, for unknown reasons, there doesn't seem to be a movement to drain A/Cs into a specific place; they all dump onto the roof.

I have the same problem on my Breakaway, we were in a very heavy rain just sitting and all of a sudden water was coming out of the A/C interior shroud. Further inspection shows that this has been a recurring problem, the headliner to the rear of the A/C unit is showing some evidence of water staining and has a different texture feel to the sponge backing, feels hard and almost brittle.

I have thought is is a leak where the A/C unit rest on the roof, but I haven't had a desire to start taking that all apart yet.

And, yes, my A/C condensate drains right out to the roof, I have checked from time to time to see if condensate is getting back into the ceiling but so far no evidence of that. Just an issue in heavy rains.

This happened to me too. I took the interior shroud off and found the leak was at the main mounting gasket for the roof. All I did was crank down on my 4 mounting bolts to sandwich the gasket down tighter. It stopped leaking and I haven't had a problem since.

So, my leak must be above the gasket as the pan that makes up the bottom of the roof AC unit is filled and that is located on top of the gasket.

I called customer service for Dometic and the guy there said he figures there must be a crack in the shroud. We have a bit of sun today, so I will be attempting to get on the roof and check closer.

One final theory is that water may be migrating "into" the drain. Just a theory, but I'm trying to visualize all the possible ways water could get into that pan.

OK, got this one figured out.

The cowl did in fact have small cracks that allowed water to seep down into the pan. If the RV was parked nose high, it would run to the back and out some drain holes. Because I was parked nose low, it ran forward where there are no drain holes filling until it ran over the interior lip - onto the bed.

Remedy, ordered two new shrouds and drilled small seep holes in the front pan just in case.
