Tired of winter in Minnesnowta!!! Time for an Adult beverage!

I think our last snow in sunny Arizona was a coupla weeks ago tomorrow.

Sedona AZ snow on April 7th 2011 acc weather channel. Trade some tornadoes for a couple inches of snow though

Can't walk on water in Kalkaska now! 28 degrees this morning but the lake thawed and the wind pushed all the ice away! First swallows appeared yesterday, I hope they don't freeze tonight. Good thing I "winterized" last week...darn
(This is definitely not Florida...my cat is peeved!)

Hey it got Dark so i don't have to look at it! Ice went off the lake here on Sunday. Fishing maybe soon most of the rest of my list entails some or all outside. Needs to get nicer!!

I'm sorry for all you northern hearty souls. Being a reformed New Englander I know how easy it is to think that first 60 degree day in March is the end of winter, Then it's two months before the snow is gone and ice out.

Well, that's why you got into RVing isn't it? You can chase the good weather wherever it might be. Just think, there are few countries like ours where there is always good weather somewhere!! And you Canadians can revel too, cause we like you so much we let you come play down here

Soon it will be time for me to decide if I head north or set up my computer on a floatie in the pool. It's 9:30 at night and still 70

Opened the side of the Barth coat the other day and put some new purchase in sliped on the ice next to it, next day was windy and near 80. Welcome spring in Illinois.

The worst part of the weather is that we are just entering the tornado season in the mid west. When Danny & I were little we had a tornado hit a town by us called Standale. It was completely eliminated except for the lumber yard. After seeing that, I have always hated tornados.

I REALLY hate tornados. This was Oct 18, 2007 in Kalkaska. The green plane is my other Barth... oh yeah, that's my hangar building, too.




Actually, I was lucky. About 4 miles before, it killed a guy in his mobile home. Two other people died from another tornado near Lansing that night.

Were you able to rebuild? Such a shame, but at least you all survived it.

I have been debating where I would be safest in a hurricane and I think my Wanderlodge is my best bet. No hurricane could rip the roof off, it's high and dry and at 50K lbs I would think it a hard thing to tip over. Tornadoes are a different animal, I think Dorothy's family had it right...underground is the only salvation. Tsunamis, you're either lucky or dead I'm afraid.

The airplane took all winter to fix but it is good as ever. new wing, new tail, struts, cowls, new windshield, new paint, etc. I have over 300 hours since and no problems.
The hangar survived..notice the hurricane brackets on the trusses. They work! Only 1 roof truss was lost.
We flew around (in another plane!) looking for my 35 x 135 roof. No trace! (It went to OZ)
Most was insured, but my poor 1968 Cessna 172 went from perfect to only excellent, still my pride and joy.
I may have to use it to save fuel to the GTG's. It's not a Barth but it is old, well made, and Aluminum!

I would imagine a hazard of a hanger is that once the roof is gone, the plane is just sitting there untethered. Looks like the other plane went for a ride.

I know what you mean about spring in Illinois. I'm getting schooled to be a rider/coach with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. The wind, rain and snow cancelled that so we did 10 hours in the classroom today. We'll be riding 10 hours tomorrow and the thought of my 6'4" frame on a Yamaha TW200 makes my butt sore just thinking about it.

There were new riders taking the Basic Rider Course who were out on the range all day today in the rain. Talk about breaking in the new riders.

On days like today I take the Barth with me. I get there a few hours early and grab a nap. I can change into dry clothes a few times, warm up and grab a cup of coffee. I love my Barth!

I was the first MSF instructor in NH way back in the day. Great course. Lessons learned have probably saved my life a few times over. Also, many of the mental structuring practices apply to life as easily. Do the still do SIPDE? hint (Scan Identify Predict Decide Execute)

SIPDE has been replaced with SEE (Seach Evaluate Execute). They have worked on really trimming things down from years past. I've been through the Basic Rider Course 2 times in the past 6 months. It is amazing to see how quick new riders get up to speed with the current curriculum. I've been riding for 33 years and learned so many things. It's good to have someone watch your riding habits since you can't watch yourself ride. I recommend everyone take the basic course if it is available in your area. Polish up some skills and meet some great people as well.
