Barth Identity Problem Solved....

Hi, Barth fans.....

I was surfing around the internet on my lunch break and found this website with this wonderful name! You can bet I'll be buying a bunch of coffee mugs, T-shirts and hats for the family. Many of us have identity problems. Is there any way I can find out the history of this company?

I'll be checking back to follow discussions on whether a Barth is worth it, and Barth owners are angels.

All the best to Barth owners,

Bev

Wow, if I were even thinking about having a bad day to day, I think I'll decide not to.

What very kind words and you are right Barth owners are Angels.

And here is our Barth mascot..Barth Cat

And in honor of this wonderful post I think it calls for a repeat of the "cute Barth" pictures

Thanks for the reply, Dave, I love the kitty....

Aside from the tech info (Greek to me, I'm not an RV owner at all; can barely afford a Hyndai), the posts are delightful. I'll send an order for Barth stuff tonight and keep in touch with these wonderful RV folks.

Ten years ago when I moved into my house I odered the script logo to put on my house; I didn't know the company had been sold since then.

Great site, keep up the good work,

Hi, again, Dave:

Piney Point is in Southern Maryland; so am I, only in a different County. It's probably about 30 miles from me on the Potomac River. I'm right on the Chesapeake Bay, western shore.

Have a great weekend, Barth fans.

Hi Bev,

We're semi-neighbors....Live in College Park, near the university, keep my boat at Herrington Harbor North in Deale and relatives scattered all over Lower Marlboro, Dunkirk, Breezy Point, & Solomons! Also restoring a '78 Barth...You may see it parked on Broomes Island while I'm crabbing, or at the Chesapeake Ranch airport, where I'm helping restore a Stinson Voyager.... If so, stop in!

One of my best high school friends (Oxnard, CA 1966) lives on St. Georges Island, (Lana Horton) and her husband owns the only gas station there in Piney Point. If you ever go there say hi. She head of all the school nurses in the area there.

Dave,

As you probably know, Piney Point is NOT on the way to anywhere - it's the end of the trip, whether you like it or not Beautiful area, with great vistas of the Cheasapeake Bay & Potomac River....

We're Barthing for a weekend at Point Lookout in October...I'm gonna make it a point to drive over & get fuel in Piney Point....Should I ask for the Bowers 50 cent a gallon discount?.........

Lee Merriman at the Barth Rangers forum, http://barthrangers.net/ , knows the entire history of Barth motor homes in great detail. He has had six Barths, and used to work for Barth.

HI, friends:

To Lee: I used to live in Hyattsville, a cheek-by-jowl town with College Park; a cousin was on the U. of Md. police department. My Barth family is in Howard County area; came from Germany in 1846 or so. Now I'm down in Prince Frederick, can see the Chesapeake Bay from my front porch. Will pencil in the October Piney Point gathering.

Great to see nice responses from wonderful folks. Obviously the common denominator is possession of a Barth!

All the best of Barth fans,

A half-century ago, we had neighbors named Barth when we lived in Westminster, CO.
Then, through the '60s, we lived in Murrlan, not in the big city of Ballmer, but in Rockville, & Clarksburg. They were up Noth in Mungummery County, not Soth in Ann-erunnel, or even further Soth in Call-vurt county, where Prince Frederick is located.

As you can see, I picked up a bit of a Murrlan accent while we were there, though most of it's gone, except when I start to spell phonetically. Our daughter didn't move West until 1980, so she sometimes still says "ayout" when she really means "out."

Somehow, those Murrlanders all think I talk funny.

OlRoy -- you sound like a born and bred Murrlander! Ever go "downey ashun" to Ocean City? Drive a "farn gin"? Eat a "cole race beef sanwitch"? Plant "flares" in the yard? My aunt and uncle talk like that and I never realized it was a Murrlan accent until somebody was making fun of it. Native Calvert Countians say "Cull-vert," outsiders say "Cal-vert."

I do know the Barth RVs have been made into mobile medical clinics. The George Washington Hospital Mobile Mammogram clinic is a Barth. Paul Simon, the singer, donated a Barth equipped as a mobile medical clinic for a neighborhood in New York City. His picture was in a magazine standing in front of the big chrome Barth logo. Made me feel proud.

If you all need a mascot, I'm up for adoption (non-smoker, don't eat much, am a good cook, brave, thrifty, cheerful, clean and reverent). Let me know rallying points and I'll show up in my new Barth baseball cap.
