John Wayne's “War Wagon” IH Travelall heads to auction

The War Wagon name, now painted on the top of the driver and passenger doors, reportedly came from Wayne’s youngest son, Ethan. During a ranch visit by Merv Griffin and a production crew, Ethan referred to the Travelall as the “War Wagon,” possibly in reference to a movie that Wayne was filming at the time. Caught on camera, the name stuck and became permanently attached to the go-anywhere, do-anything SUV, although the lettering was reportedly added after Wayne’s ownership. -
