Sound like a nightmare? Thoughts? it is the one layout element that is least fortuitous of the candidate Barth... We could live with it for awhile but it would be easier if we thought we could change it down the line. Any wisdom to share?

After plans to alter the interior of the Barth I owned, I would advise againsed this. If you consider paying yourself $1 an hour for your labor and the parts to perform the job correctly you will soon find it is more economical to purchase a coach that is laid out to better suit your travel needs. I think this would be true even if you were a master carpenter/plumber but of course this is just my opinion. This by no means suggests that it cannot be done, it is just a matter of dollars and cents.

Depends. Is the Barth a newer one with Basement storage? They have more room for running plumbing and tanks. My 1978 Barth is pretty tight with the toilet dumping straight down into holding tank. 1978 Barth 17' Cabin Fever 1997 Barth 23' 4 door Command Center

One of my Barth's has back bathroom and the other has the bath on the side in the front, I much prefer the back bath. Mary Don't mess with us old folks, we don't get old by being stupid! 1968 Barth trailer, 1975 Barth Motorhome and 1985 Barth Motorhome

When moving the bathroom, the location of the black tank must be considered. If the toilet can be over the tank, it might be worth it. Anything but a straight-down dump is asking for trouble. . 84 30T PeeThirty-Something, 502 powered

It is just a matter of dollars and SENSE. Bad idea... like changing from a gas engine to diesel or vice versa... like changing wheel and tire sizes... like changing transmissions, etc -- SO involved, SO many unintended consequences.

Thanks All! Keep it coming. I'm getting the picture. Interesting point on the location of the black tank and the desirability of a straight shot.

I passed on putting in my 2 cents worth yesterday but now I'm among friends so I don't think I'll hurt any feelings. My first thought was forget it, and I haven't changed my mind. The main deterent to me is accessability between the floor and the coach bottom, where the plumbing will have to be run. Find a mid bath Barth. 79 Barth Classic

Not that I'm endorsing the idea, but if you change to a macerating toilet the discharge is only a 1" line. This obviously makes running the nastiest waste line a piece of cake and allows leaving the waste tank where it is. The other benefit is no smell from leaky seals. Reminds me of the potty I used at a friends bath house. He failed to tell me it was a gas unit that burned the waste. . I was still able to produce children at a later date. Hum

If cost is not an object then you could use a Vac-u-flush system and put the toilet or holding tank anywhere you like. http://tinyurl.com/7woz5co

What I replaced in my coach was a Microphor vacu-flush system. Hated it! Those macerating toilets are "unstoppable" They will handle anything and the discharge is a small hose. You'll never have a black tank problem with this kind of "pretreatment." My dad has had one on his boat for many years with no problems. When I was younger I had visions of using it and a garden hose to "repel boarders!" 9708-M0037-37MM-01 "98" Monarch 37 Spartan MM, 6 spd Allison Cummins 8.3 325+ hp
