Bill, There are 3 Kamaole beachs in Kihei....locals call them Kam 1,2,&3 starting with the north one being #1. The southern most one, #3, has a large grassy park that borders S. Kihei Rd. Next to it was a large grassy open area as you continued south headed for Wailea. Next are 2 hotels that share a common drivewany. This is just before you get to about a dozen houses that along the beach just before the road curves up the hill to the left. One of these hotels is the Mana Kai and was built by a bunch of pilots from one of the airlines. It is more like a condo.....each roon is privately owned and most but not all are in a rental pool. I know i have seen the Kai Nani...just can't remember exactly which one it was. Too bad you didn't hang on to it. The way prices took off in the last 5-6 years you could have bought a fleet of Barths. Smiler Smiler Wailea has 6 or 7 hotels now....the Grand Wailea was just starting to be built when we got there in 88.....It is the largest hotel on the island and was reputed to have cost $ 750 million or more to build. It is quite the place.
