Danny ZBatten the Hatches Pt 2
Looks like Ike will provide plenty of grief for some of us. Deb & Ed will get it first, and depending on it's path, us west coasters are in the cross-hairs this time. No plans to evac at this time, and if we do, it will be a jump around and to the south, maybe to Ed's. If we can't do that we'll weather it out the best we can.

billyt53We are watching Ike too. We have spent all week putting the shop back together, missing a week and a half of work. We don't need this again.

RustyIt's never any fun...I backfitted my house for 135 mph winds (150 mph in some parts) - that took some effort!
Since I'm in N. Central FL, 55 miles from the coast, winds are usually not a problem (Hurricane
Jeanne's eyewall went by about 20 miles away in '04), but the river is -
Fay brough the water up to the edge of the yard and flooded the RV parking pad, but that was no problem.
I wish everyone in the coastal areas, where wind is indeed an issue, the best of luck.
Danny, if it were I, I'd consider going north then east (SR 64 to Zolfo Springs?) rather than southeast...that's low country as one nears Lake Okeechobee - LaBelle isn't very high, either.

carlflackDanny: As a former Cape Coral, Florida resident, Cookeville, Tennessee sure is nice. Come on up.....

Danny ZThanks Carl, but it's looking a little better now for us. Unfortunately, it may be getting worse for the folks who just went through Gustav. Still a long ways off but Ike appears to be on track to stay south long enough to spare Florida.
