Curious how all our members that are affected by the hurricane are doing? I hope all are doing ok. We are thinking of you and want you to know you are in our prayers. I have a nephew that lives in Waynesville N.C. and the devastation he has been describing is inconceivable. I know many are still without cell and internet but thought that maybe we could start some kind of information
and support chain to help our fellow Barthmobilers out.

We were fortunate. Our park model is about 10 miles inland from Port Charlotte, on the Gulf side. They had only about 55 mph winds and 5-6 inches of rain, very little by Florida hurricane standards. No damage other than minor flooding in some areas.

OTOH, this storm is an example why we should not consider hurricanes as just coastal systems. Less than 10% of the damage was in Florida, 90% far inland. It is hard to believe how bad the flash flood damage can be. Not a slow storm surge, a wall of water moving fast. No chance for any structure.

God bless the first responders and may the victims be restored someday. Sad times indeed.

We were lucky with Helene. The barrier islands got trashed but we just got some wind and only an inch and a half of rain, no damage. Unfortunately we have another hurricane on the way and it looks like it could make a direct hit. We'll just hunker down and hope for the best. We are about 80 miles south of Tampa.
