Hi,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Bill H was a great contributor to this forum, and a moderator as well. If I recall correctly, he was a petroleum engineer, and I have learned much with his posts.

I think I see his old coach for sale now. It's been gutted, but I'd be confident that the "Truck segment" of this rig was expertly maintained in his duration of ownership.

OMG, I think you may be right. At 30ft that was the shortest tag axle we knew of. Bill put a 502 engine in it and it was a nice rig when he had it. Never heard anything more about it after Bill died. Looks like it is trashed now. Sad to see but it seems many of our early site members and their coaches have faded away.

As you said, Bill was a great contributor to the site. He and Rusty were site keepers for Bill NY for several years before they passed on. It was after Rusty died I became involved with the site upkeep. (His coach caught fire and is no longer in service, either.)

I spoke with Bill H a couple times on the phone. Always wished I had a chance to meet him but never did in time. A great guy he was.

I had my Euro for a while when Bill put this coach up for sale, and I decided to "upgrade" to it. Unfortunately the logistics of getting to California from Florida and getting this beast home made my dream impossible. I hope someone gets hold of this thing and does it justice.

I am about 160 miles from the rig, and if it is drive-able and especially if the rest of the interior is there it is a tempting project, even though I have outlived my breakaway. but will look further as I do have room for it. john

John, if you eye it and like it, but don't have the time for it, I am "dreaming" too. I have thoughts I want to gut my rig and do an interior revamp. I'd love to have a full bedroom in the rear of the rig. Mine was set up to support police dog teams, and the layout is a bit strained and spartan, even with the earlier work I did to put bunks in place.

From what I can tell, "Bill H" did his last post about 10 years ago. I believe his wife had predeceased him. I was mistaken about his petroleum engineering experience, he was an avionics technician apparently involved in military aircraft development. He seemed to know a ton about petroleum products and lubricants.

Perhaps the rig has been sitting for 10 years. Arizona is sure a better spot than Massachusetts for sitting idle.

Happy Motoring,
Matt

I started with this site when I purchased my 33ft Regal in early 2011. I immediately realized it was a goldmine of archived info and sage members. Rather than ask too many stupid questions, I decided to read the previous posts of some members. I read all the posts from Bill NY, Bill H, Rusty, MWrench and a few others. I was lurking for two months before I finished and finally decided to start a thread or two. 14 years, 2 coaches and 5000 posts later I guess I am now a hopeless Barth junkie.

Bll H was the real deal. He was an airplane, motorcycle and hotrod guy. He also knew that dynomometer testing and careful observation beats seat-of-the-pants anecdotes every time. I called him for advice a few times. He was a great guy to talk to. I planned to meet him but his age and poor health intervened. I miss his input here on the site.

With a 502 engine and tag axle chassis that coach would be a great project. Tag axle gives great road stability and extra brakes. 502 is a great engine for a 30ft Barth. I hope someone will realize the potential of that coach.
