I read that Quartzsite Fire Dept had to call in the Colorado River swift water rescue squad to Tyson Wash. Hope you and your gang are ok out there! Don 1990 Regency 34' Cummins 6CTA 8.3 240hp Spartan Chassis, 4 speed Allison MT643

Yeah, both Tyson wash and Bouse wash were a washin'. We crossed them a coupla times in our lifted 4WD, but later in the day, we went around. It looked a little scarier. I keep my ignition wires and dist cap coated with LPS-3, so, short of a fording kit, we are pretty good. The problem here is that the only way to go east and west in Quartzite is to use the main street or the freeway. Every other street has dips where the washes are, and they flood. We saw other people in less capable vehicles do it OK, but it looked too chancy for us. We did have to use 4WD late in the day, as it got a little slippy slidey right where we are camped. Another 4WD was stuck, but he only had a locker on the rear. so the front axle was useless in the slick stuff. Today, it is pretty well drained, so Susan is glad she stood out in the rain and took pictures of the creek next to us. We were a little apprehensive about it rising above its banks, but we were OK. Today it is back to being a dry wash. Not raining, but blowing and we can see rain a cloud here and there. We listened to the Quartzsite radio station as long as we could stand it. Lots of reports of exciting stuff. The RV show tent was closed all day, but the barricade guards didn't know why. Could have been wind or flooding. We will check it out after breakfast. . 84 30T PeeThirty-Something, 502 powered

Bill, that little wash that you had to cross to get from one section of the buses to where we were had the culvert wash out last nite. Today they put it back in and dumped more gravel on it. Also found out that there is another way to get out of here if need be. We went to dinner last nite and had to go thru some water in one place on the way there. Road was closed on the way back so we had to find a way around. One other way was closed also and as it was we had to go thru water in about 6 places to get back.

The rain stopped last night at about sundown, but this afternoon Tyson Wash was still flowing over Tyson blvd near us. We were on higher ground between two washes. One of the washes used to be a (sort of)road/trail, but became a flowing wash for a while. The winds were something, too. I set bottle jacks to control the rocking, but the ground became too soft to support them, so we rocked and rolled. . 84 30T PeeThirty-Something, 502 powered

Bill, i don't think we will make it out to see you guys. We have a few things we want to do in the morning and then will probably head back to Yuma around noon. Sure did enjoy seeing you here in town though. If you ever get to Yuma give us a yell, we even usually have room for you to stay with us and you don't even have to hook up to the electricity if you don't want too!
