Just got back from a two-week, 2500 miles trip to Myrtle Beach. The Barth performed without problems, just a couple minor glitches on the house side, not the mechanic.
On the first day the big door lock decided to not work. We had to use the regular door lock for the rest of the trip.
One of my rear jack (quadra-eeze)wouldn't hold the weight of the coach and would slowly retract. I will have to check the oil level on this one and the other three.

When we left, two weeks ago, the temperature on the road was 103F for the two days we were travelling. We had to have the generator go all day so we could use the roof AC.

We also had to be very careful on the speed we were going in the hills because the transmission would overheat. On the return trip, we had no such problem.

As usual, we were parked beside new RV's, but people always stop and ask questions about Barth.

It was our first experience in Myrtle Beach Travel Park and we really liked it.

I now have to go fix these two minors glitches, since we are leaving again next week-end

For me, that's one of the enjoyable parts of traveling, and many times is the ice-breaker for some really great campground conversations with the neighbors....The "what-is-it?" questions from the younger crowd and the "I-remember-those!" from the older generation - great fun all......

This past weekend, enroute to Delaware over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge at Annapolis, the toll-taker leaned out of her booth, gave the Barth a once-over look and asked, "Sir, how old is your RV?".....

Thinking that I was about to be denied access to the bridge, I reluctantly confessed it was built in 1978, but added "in GREAT mechanical shape!"

"I'm sure it is", she said, "It's awesome - have a nice trip"......

I wonder how many other old little 24' gassers get that attention? Yep, Barth-owning is fun Smiler

There was.....It's up in the middle of the DelMarVa pennisula now, at Ridgely.......jumpers, ultra-lights, light sport, powered parachutes - all kinds of ways to cheat death........

Pax River Naval Air Station in southern MD is now
home base for Osprey testing & acceptance and pretty much owns the airspace in that area....

Dang shame. Both my oldest and I made our first freefall jumps there. Decades apart.

Welcome to South Carolina, A generator is a must in the south for A/C. Mine is running most of the time the engine is running. I think it's funny when I see posts of folks still working on thier heaters. I never use mine. Where did you stay in MB?

Neil.
